Our human reason and free will is a stumbling block to scripture. With all the different denominations the bottom line is that there will be no partitions in Heaven. All believers will be saved through faith, and are members of the invisible "True Church", the Communion of Saints. (This is probably the most liberal thing that I have ever written, but it is what the Bible says!)

I dont ask myself if Im a Mormon I just say that I am believer in the Lord b\c from what I believe the true church is not upon this earth yet it will come when the Lord reigns on earth again and thats something I do believe. Its what our faith gives us that makes us true to the Lord.

The truth is that we are NOT all serving one God. Some religions worship a trinity. Others worship Jesus. TRUE Christianity is not divided. You are either a Christian or you're not. There are no divisions or denominations. As Paul said at 1 Cor. 1:10: "Now I exhort you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that you should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among you, but that you may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought."

If there are vast differences between the beliefs offered by different groups, it is natural to ask "They can't all be right can they? And if not which one is?"
Joseph Smith asked God this question in 1820 and was told that none of the churches were true and that Christ was establish his true Church through Joseph. That church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I agree that it is important to remember to be united as Christians, but I don't think it is silly to think that two contradictory things can't both be true.

Man created the groups & denominations, as well as their doctrines for interpreting & acting upon God's Holy Word. God intended for all Christians to be Brothers & Sister in Christ to each other, & Christians who are demonstrating their faith & beliefs will indeed treat all of God's Family as their own.
I have many Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, etc. brothers & sisters. It doesn't matter how they choose to worship. I may not personally agree with their demonstrations of faith, but that's only incidental & not important to salvation.

Do you know the Apostles' Creed?
The Third Article (Sanctification): "I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Christian church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen." From Luther's Small Catechism: "~What does this mean?~ I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true."
Furthermore in Luther's Small Catechism with Explanation: "169. What is the holy Christian church? The holy Christian church is the communion of saints, the total number of those who believe in Christ. All believers in Christ, but only believers, are members of the church (invisible church). [Eph.2:19-22; John 10:16; Romans 8:9]
"170. Why do you say, "I believe" in the church? (A) Because faith, which makes people members of the church, is invisible, the church is invisible to human eyes. [Luke 17: 20-21; 2 Tim. 2:19]
(B) The Scriptures assure us that the Holy Spirit continues to gather and preserve the church. [Matt. 16:18; Acts 2:41, 47; Bible narrative: The 7000 in Israel (1 Kings 19:8-18)]
"171. Why do you say, I believe in "the" church? There is only one church, one spiritual body of believers (saints), whose one and only head is Christ. [Rom. 12:4-5; Eph. 4:3-6; Col.1:18]
"174. Where is this holy Christian church to be found? The holy Christian church is to be found where "the Gospel is preached in its purity and the holy sacraments are administered according to the Gospel" (Augsburg Confession VII 1). The Gospel and the sacraments are called the "marks of the church." [Is. 55:10-11]
"175. In what other senses is the word *church* used? The word *church* is also used to indicate (A) the visible church of God; (B) a denomination; (C) a local congregation; (D) a house of worship.
"176. Why does the Scripture call local congregations "church"? Local, visible gathering around the means of grace are called churches because there believers are gathered around Word and sacrament. [Matt. 18:17; Matt. 28:19-20; 1 Cor. 1:2; Note: Paule wrote to the churches is Galatia (Gal. 1:2). He wrote to the church of the Thessalonians (Thess. 1:1). John wrote to the seven churches of Asia Minor (Rev. 1-3). A group of congregations is also called "church" (Acts 9:31).]
"177. What is the visible church? The visible church is the whole number of those who use the Word of God and profess the Christian faith, but among whom, beside the true Christians, there are also unbelievers.
And finally:
"178. Are there then two churches, one visible and the other invisible? There is only one church--all believers in Christ. The visible gathering is called church becuse of the believers gathered around the means of grace in an assembly in which there are also hypocrites. [Bible narratives: The net that caught all kinds of fish (Matt. 13:47-48). A man without wedding clothes (Matt. 22:11-12). Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11).]
Hope that helps you understand better.

Different denominations come from different interpretations.
Mormons have their "own Bible and own beliefs that contradict Christian beliefs.
It is difficult to overcome differences when these created separation from the others in the first place.
The only way for true unity in Christ is Absolute Truth to be manifested in all's heart and soul. When Jesus is made known in HIS PURITY AND POWER, then we could realize the Truth.

I am a Christian. I follow Jesus and His teachings. Not any organized religion.
Religion is man’s attempt to please their gods and control other people. Religion has rules, rituals and laws to follow. Every religion believes that they have the answers for redemption. The answers for religion lies within man’s ability to follow it’s teachings.
Jesus is God’s way to reach down to mankind with love, forgiveness, acceptance and grace. Jesus is not a religion. He is God and He is the way for man to have fellowship with God.
When we come to Jesus, we are full of the original sin nature and the sins that we have committed. He cleanses us when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior and repent of those sins.
Our redemption and salvation results from His willful and sacrificial death on the cross to take our place for our sin nature and our sins. He is the only atonement possible because He is without sin. Jesus does it for us because we are incapable of following any religion perfectly. He did follow the law perfectly.
Coming to Jesus, not religion, is what God requires for us to become forgiven, sanctified, and have the personal relationship with God that He intended for us from the start. Jesus is the only way to God.
James 1:27 states, Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
