I am not a follower of Hindu nor of reincarnation but as to physical beauty versus physical unattractiveness I would like to respond. I have found that while first impressions tend to lead to beautiful people being spoken to first, if they are mean, spoiled, or selfish, they tend to seem less beautiful. While if you meet someone who may not be very attractive immediately, if they are kind, and charitable they become more attractive the longer you are around them. I believe beauty is random but can be a life test. Example: If things are easier for you because of physical appearance; are you still able to be kind and work hard? Or, if you are not physically blessed, are you resentful and angry or do you still reach out to others with a beautiful spirit? I do not believe physical blessings or afflictions are the result of actions of sin or saintlihood but I do thing they test our character and thus have purpose.

Reincarnation is a false belief.
As far a beauty making life easier for beautiful people, I only have one thing to say: "Beauty is skin deep and ugly is to the bone". If you can find a beautiful person that is beautiful to the bone then you have found a special person. On the other hand if you find a beautiful person with a rotten personality/attitude developed because of her beauty, then she is ugly to the bone.
I know most people want a beautiful person to be around and marry but, take it from one with experience, you will be far better off finding a mate that you are totally compatible with and was your friend before you fell "in love". Pops

WOW - that's a GREAT question!
I don't believe in past lives but I do agree that society loves beauty. I think our responsibility, as mankind, is to recognize that everyone has beauty - whether inside or out. Everyone is dealt some blessings and talents, but not all are visible. I believe that "ugly" people have a special gift instead of being attractive. It's too bad that we are so near-sighted as a society that we don't look past the obvious to appreciate people for all that they are instead of their appearance. Ultimately, life is as good as you make it. Pretty people have problems and so do ugly people. Sometimes I am in both categories and I still have problems, but I can choose how I view the world either way.

People are not ugly just because their looks don't coincide with society's outlook on beauty. I believe that a person can be beautiful on the outside just by being beautiful on the inside. God believes everyone is beautiful. Haven't you ever seen a really ugly person but whenever your friends with them and discover their amazing personality you don't even see their appearance the way you did before.

All of God's thoughts are beautiful, eternal, and harmless. Physical beauty or lack of is a state of the physical mind, and is not eternal. Beauty belongs to Truth, and not the physical person, but the person reflects more directly truth with beauty than without. Ugly is not punishment or an idea of God, for it is a mortal state that must be overcome with true life. In spiritual truth, we all possess beauty, and nothing less.

I am not Hindu,I am Wicca and I believe in reincarnation,I believe if we want to be beautiful that we must give up something else lets say like intelligence or have some kind of other flaw.or vise versa.we have to give up something to get something else.your religion may differ from mine.I don't know anything about Hindu, but I hope this will help you.Remember,if there is beauty on the inside it shows on the outside.

Sometimes yes, most times no - it can be karmic, but physical beauty has nothing to do with the soul.
I've seen many very beaufiful people that do nothing for me, because I can see they have dark souls.
If you think about it...beauty, like lots of money, is potentially just one more obstacle. Beautiful people are often very attached to their own beauty...they fear aging. The attachment to the physical form only gets in the way of realization of who you really are (Atma).
Physical looks (good and bad) are just part of the game (leela), don't get too caught up with it.

No, I am not very fond of beautiful people. I see that they have an easy ride in life and am bitter that a lot of them abuse it. They can be complete idiots and receive excellent jobs they are clearly not qualified for, while the rest of us "plain" folk have to work for our earnings. They are treated far better than the rest of us. I am not only sickened by the people who use beauty to get around in life, but also people who support it. To think that beauty is the result of a soul is not very plausible. Most beautiful people I know are vain and drive me nuts.
I would much rather hang out with people who are not beautiful.

Absolutely no.
Jesus compared children to heaven.
also children are innocent until a certain age.
To think a deformed child is a punishment for that soul would be to deny final judgment for ones actions of their life. So no christian should believe that. And no one else who has lived in reality, surely you have seen beautiful people with bad attitudes.

Yes, Schopenhauer (the philosopher) thought this. He was influenced by Buddhism, or by his interpretation at least. I think there is a correlation between beauty and goodness. An ugly face is often just the result of a nasty expression that gets kind of imprinted on the person's face. People who have gross thoughts tend to have gross faces and bodies, and vice verse.
BTW, attractive people suffer in relationships just like everyone else. They are constantly looking for something that is unattainable. They suffer as much as unattractive people do, except it's on a higher level and it's a more refined kind of suffering. And, like someone else said, they have more to lose when / if they do lose it.
