Will this mean that once our bodies wear out, our paradise will become a super computer?

Will we need to see or hear any longer, so long as we can exchange data?

Will biology become unnecessary?

What are the implications for religion?

God is all over the Old Testement. Talking to people and directly communicating with them. I recall He said at one point, no more will I come down and talk with men. He also seems to have power to control men to do His will. Just a few of many examples: hardening Pharoe's heart towards Moses. Hardening the hearts of men to cause war. Causing men to come with the sword. Deciding what the outcome will be. He seems to have a lot of say and control in the events of the Old Testement. He gets right up in there. Is it fair to say that after the Old Testament, we have more free will? He's not going to hold our hand anymore and keep doing things for us. He's given us all the tools and knowledge to fend for ourselves? Real free will starts now (after old testament)?

i've heard many times that god will never send more than u can handle, but what about those people who get like a nervous breakdown and/or commit suicide? it's obvious that they couldn't handle what god sent them. so is it true that god never sends more that you can handle or does he sometimes sends more than a person can handle?

I don’t really believe in god but religion kind of make sense to me so anyway this person did everything to just get money and not only prostituting, stealing, frauding, or hacking but more than that and the last thing was she stealed her ma's 3 stories home legally faking the property papers and signature to her name then got a business contract so she can have an opportunity having sex with the rich men but now that all stopped and she prays all the time and brag about her lifestyle change claiming that she finally found god in her heart
But if you ask me that's just ballshit b/c the reason she stopped is b/c she doesn't need any more money so will "GOD" forgive her?

That people try to burn it, ban it, destroy it and viciously attack it? And yet it still remains after 1,500 years.

I've been reading a lot lately about the horrible things that have happened to slaves a throughout history. I've also visited Mexico and Peru and herd the terrible tales and how the slaves were treated there. I'm not sure anything has caused more death and suffering in the world.

I know that Jesus spoke out about gambeling near the church so I'm sure he said a lot more about the greatest crime ever in history (slavery). And God (being able to forsee the future) surely must have said many bad things about slavery.

Does anyone have any references from the Bible about how God and Jesus spoke out about slavery?

Before anything, there was a big hole called Chaos. Then Mother Earth emerged. She had a son called Uranus, who was the sky, with whom she had sons together. Rain fell from Sky to Earth making plants grow and animals appear.
Their first kids were one-eye monsters who were banished into the Underworld. Later, human-shaped giants were born and became the first Gods and Goddesses.
One was in charge of creating the human race. After two tries ( the first ones couldn't have children so they died out, the second ones were evil so they were exterminated), he finally got it right.

This Creation story was believed for over a period of 7000 years. It finally died out to be replaced with the Christian one. Have we evolved really?
btw, it's Greek mythology. Do you think one day, they ll be talking about Christian "mythology" as well?

How did the Muslims create such a cosmopolitan society in Spain which sparked the Renaissance ?

Muslims, Jews and Scientists from Europe created a cosmopolitan society of peace and mutual co-existance.

Islamic scholars of Religon (Mullahs,Imams,Ulama) were also scientists since the Quran encouraged the Muslims to look into science to see the power of God.

Muslim and Jewish scholars along with some Heretic Christians or "enlightened" scientists created a "JEWEL" in Europe.

Science, Mathematics,Astronomy, Philosphy etc. were discussed and studied with all three faiths living in harmony and peaceful coexistance.

This islamic attitude to science, mathematics and learning was so foreign in Europe that it was considered heresy and blasphemy.

This got the Catholic Church so UPSET they hunted down all the Muslims/Heritics and converted them by force or killed them.

The Church was so fanatically against free thought and scientific research that they blamed the Renaissance on Islam.

In revenge for undermining the awesome power of the Church (and planting a seed for Europe to emerge out of the Dark Ages) ,the Pope killed or baptised by force all the Muslims (and Jews) in Spain.

Then the Pope and Church along with loyal Kings started the Crusades to make sure Islam would not reach any further into Europe with their "heretical views".

The Islamic view of One God, no original sin, and the belief that there should be NO Religious hierarchy and NO organized church was a total slap in the face of Christiandom.

-----------

“The Renaissance of Europe did not take place in the 15th century. Rather it began when Europe learned from the culture of the Arabs. The cradle of European awakening is not Italy. It is the Muslim Spain.” (Robert Briffault, The Making Of Mankind)

“The Christian World came to wage crusades against Muslims but eventually knelt before them to gain knowledge. They were spellbound to see that Muslims were owners of a culture that was far superior to their own. The Dark Ages of Europe were illuminated by nothing but the beacon of Muslim Civilization.” (F.J.C Hearushaw, The Science of History.)

“The greatest crimes, the greatest “sin” of Mohammed in the eyes of Christian West is that he did not allow himself to be slaughtered, to be “crucified” by his enemies. He only defended himself, his family and his followers; and finally vanquished his enemies. Mohammed’s success is the Christians’ gall of disappointment… He did not believe in any vicarious sacrifices for the sins of others.” (Edward Gibbon, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.)

Only the atheists have the intellectual honesty to acknowledge these Islamic accomplishments :

You probably feel welcome in your own congregation.

But no matter who you are, somewhere there is another sincere Christian who considers your form of Christianity to be inspired solely by Satan himself. (Or if you don't believe in Satan, inspired by mental derangement.)

Given the range of Christian thinking, feeling, and actions, there is clearly no consistent message from Christianity on ANYTHING.

How would you suggest others discern which group can provide the most correct perspective?

I'm pretty sure I'm Christian, I'm a good guy I suppose, and that's all that really matters. Anywho...

I have a question for atheists, cuz I'm curious, do you believe that when you die, everything just turns to nothing. You do not exist anymore, you cannot think, see, hear, anything. You Are Gone. Dead. I'm just wondering, because to be honest, I think that would be terrible, nearly as bad as Hell. That means you will NEVEr see the ones you love again. They're dead. I honestly coulodn't be Atheist, I'm just too terrified of that possibility. Thanks :) !

Another user would apparently like to start a contest. He said he helped a woman with her groceries today. That's very nice, but I'm sure the rest of us did something nice, too. If you want to enter, please state your religious affliation as well as the good deed.

I'm eclectic Pagan. I pleaded the case of a person who was about to be fired today and got them another chance. Oh, and my wife loves lobster salad, and I hate handling raw meat of any kind, but I got a bit of lobster and made her some for tonight.
