Because some really don't know where to look in the Bible for the answers.

Some prefer to read about the Greeks and the wonderful stories about Athena, Zeus, Mercury and all those cool gods and demi-gods. Hercules is great and Narcissus. Some people have a real problem after they realize all the strange things in the Bible. The Flood and parting of sea is a couple of examples. It sounds just like the Greek stories. It is believed that these myths begin as a form of entertainment. The confabulated stories the elders created to tell the children, you see?

It's a large book, and if they don't have a lot of background or experience with it or a good concordance, people don't have any idea where to look to find out something. Someone may have told them, "It says in the Bible that..." and they're wondering if it really *does* say that, and if so, where.

But lifting verses out of context is only helpful up to a point -- you're right, it is better that people read each book (Romans, or John, or Esther, etc) through in its entirety to get the whole context of what the original writer wrote.

So asking questions here, assuming they're honest questions, is at least one place to start finding out.

If only it was that simple. Have you tried to read the Bible it makes no sense. The reason I ask for questions here because there are a number of people that understand the bible and they can help with an answer.

Because we live in a day when folks want quick answers. To read the entire Bible takes times and understanding. Also, it is just interesting to get others point of view.

Thank you.l I feel the same way. It seems that people that do not know the truth and come to answer some of the questions are searching for the truth .Yet, they sound so silly to me.

I respect their journey to the real truth, I hope they get there before the time is up.

It is called Yahoo answers. You ask the question, we answer. It is for the points.

Yes anyone can find the answers if they dig hard enough, but sometimes during one's bible study, we do get hard to understand verses. When we ask questions concerning these verses, we sometimes get answers from those who have studied the Hebrew and Greek text of scripture. And thus, are very helpful.

It is not popular in our culture to search out Christian teachings from the word of God.people like to read what someone else said..........It is much more delightful to find out for ones self what the roadmap of life says...especially since we will stand alone beofre Christ....Also many churches shoot people down if the question unsound doctrine.....but I say find the way by picking up the word of God..............

It is good to hear what others have to say, then you can build on that by reading the Bible.
