If God never changes why is there such a big difference between the God in the old testament and the God in the new testament.

The God in the old testament is Jealous and vengeful, yet the God in the new testament is like ok maybe i can attract more flies with honey.

hard core atheist. I think what makes them so awesome is the fact they never lost sight of who they are. Don't you think these types of people tend to be more real? I love the rebels and hardcore people. They enrich the faith

Now, I KNOW that LDS people discriminate against non-mormons... maybe not consciously, but if you're not one of them... you don't get the time of day.

We moved into a mormon neighborhood (from out of state - didn't know what we'd gotten ourselves into until it was too late!) a month ago. Only one (1) neighbor has introduced themselves. My kids have given out our phone number, and nobody has called either of them even once. They've called several kids and strangely enough, nobody can ever play...

There's nothing that should set us apart from "them" other than religion. We live in their neighborhood and keep our home looking nice. We're the same color as they are. We're not noisy. Our children are well behaved and friendly. Our dogs are even good. I'm sure word got out that we weren't LDS.

Suggestions on how we can make good in this neighborhood? Hoping for suggestions from LDS people who know how to deal with some stuffy LDS snobs.

How important is it for a Christian to be baptized?
If possible, please support your answer with scripture.

My son desperately wants to go to VBS. I have no problem with him going, but I don't want him too confused by what they teach there. I have taught him that God exists and that Jesus was a good man who had a lot of wisdom. I have also taught him that we don't know for sure what happens after you die, but that you do go on -death is not the end.
He is seven years old and I have been careful to answer his questions without heaping too much upon him at this point. I want him to be open minded and use his intellect when it comes to forming his opinions of the spiritual world, rather than judge people or condem someone to hell simply for not believing as he does.
My sister and nephew are going to this VBS as well as several kids from his class. It is a fun week, but I am unsure of how to prepare him for this.Perhaps I will just say "that is how they believe, this is what we believe..." What is your opinion on his going?

In France, children are unable to wear any kind of religious symbols (ex: cross, Star of David, Birka, Yarmulka). According to our original constitution we are a nation with freedom OF religion. Are we becoming a nation that pressures our youth to believe and condone freedom FROM religion like France?

If it cannot be observed, repeated, verified or subject to experimentation, then it is not scientific. Has Evolution ever been observed, repeated, verified or has an experiment ever been performed regarding it.

I've been praying for one thing, one simply thing, every day since I was old enough to understand what prayer is, and yet that one thing has never come to pass.

People claim that God is in the signs, but I have never noticed a response even in the negative towards my one prayer. And in the 23 years of my life, a lack of a response from God, ANY response, has steadily ground my faith into near non-existence. I'm at the point now where I don't think there really is a God, but I WISH there were.

What am I doing wrong? Am I just wasting my time?

I don't believe in pretend religions. I love science and my world is evidence-based. Yet, I don't know what will happen when I die - Unexplored territory. Not everything can be explored. To enter a Black Hole for example. I could never come back and tell you what it's like. It appears that the world we live in has particles popping in and out of existance and dimensions within dimensions. Paradox is fundamental to an understanding of quantum mechanics. Who says that our consciousness does not exist in more than just these dimensions that we're familiar with? We don't understand time AT ALL. What makes you so sure that death is the end?

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

In all seriousness people, no preaching or anything, no getting really angry at me, i am stating facts here, some logic. In Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and most god-related religions, God is a supreme being who created the universe and can do anything, he is all powerful and all knowing, he will reward the good and punish the evil. If you had that power, what would you do? Some people would abuse the power, some might get overwhelmed. If i could do anything at all, perform miracles and command masses, i would help others, not threaten them with heaven or hell or whatever. In my opinion, anyone or anything that has the power to change the world for the better in such drastic ways, but doesn't, no matter what the reason, does not deserve our praise. If god has the power to end all poverty, to create world peace, to stop global warming or shut up Pres. Bush, why wouldn't they do it? Please give some opinions, nothing that implies a lack of faith or that i am not correctly informed.
