Or a mixture of both?

Most atheists have studied religion much more than most Christians have, and to make it more entertaining it seems that the responses are from 16-yr-olds.

...6 billion (or whatever number) years old, or 6000 years old as interpreted in the Bible? Please explain your answer?

After the Watchtower organisation sold the former book plant in New York In 2004 for 205 million dollars more than fifty times the 3.9 million that they paid for it in 1983, I said they were a profit making organisation. Technically this was wrong so I apologise.

I will in future refer to them properly as a non profit making organisation that erm makes profits.

If God was the only one around, why would he say "let us " and "our image"?

Not to pick on them only, but...have you ever had a Bible study or a discussion about a topic in the Bible with someone, and not only are they always right, but they zip you around the Bible, and insist on making their point be the right one? I have had this happen everytime I'd try having a study with a witness. A discussion seems to get nowhere, even tho I may actually know the truth about a particular topic. So, why would anyone discussing the Bible, NOT be open to trying to get the truth of the subject, even if they would have to change their view?
We are supposed to "prove all things", RIGHT?
So, why won't some people use any literature, including some that might not be their own, to prove something or to gain new knowledge?
Are some people closing their mind and heart to the truth, believing that they have all the answers?
Wouldn't God want us to search for the truth, and change, if we have to?

We can see it in the historical records. We can see it in everyday posts on this forum. We know he has not returned so far.

Then how come almost all think it will happen 'soon'? It has been 'soon' for more than 2000 years?

We are saved by grace not by meeting a quota.

We just want you to have a chance at the same happiness and hope we have. Is sharing happiness a crime?

Are you believers kidding me. Adam and Eve had everything and yet they sinned, how could you possibly think that would trust man to write his word. This is the very reason why the bible is rubbish. It was mostly written by the Jews as a means to justify their wars and to keep their people together. If you want to learn about for real see his word in nature!

2 great teachers i admire and love are jesus and buddha for their kindness. I am not intrested in any supernatural god's. I believe that jesus is god to me and always will be.

Christianity , in fact the teachings of jesus has nothing to do with islam or judaism. Christianity is very much a religion like Buddhism, and jesus was a loving merciful person like Buddha

while people of these 2 religions have commited atrocities i can tell you that christianity and buddhism are the only 2 religions that has the power to change the world in the form of love and mercy.

jesus and buddha are the greatest and i stand by what i say

no other religion can claim that they have the power to promote love . only christianity and buddhism does, because jesus and buddha were 2 teachers of love and mercy

Thats why i call jesus God

what do you say?

This was written after several centuries of torturing "heretice."

“Bodily torture has ever been found the most salutary and efficient means of leading to spiritual repentance” (Pope Innocent IV, AD EXTIRPANDA, A.D. 1252).

And “Jesus wept” (John 11:35).

If Fundamentalist/Evangelical Protestants know what they believe why do they have to wait for their pastor or preacher during a service to pose the question "can I get an. Amen?" before affirming their belief?

I've seen this over and over and yet the same people who are being led by the preacher will claim "Catholics are brainwashed". Isn't it interesting that Catholics respond at Mass knowing when to do so and how to do so everytime and therefore are participants in Christian worship whereas non-catholics (Anglicans and Lutherans excluded)
tend not to be unless the pastor orchestrates it! Who are the real zombies with pen in hand for that all important note talking during worship?

I would say 90% to 95% of the time I will go out of my way to be respectful to people. I see no point in doing otherwise.
And something is bugging me slightly (not going to lose sleep over it or anything) but I wanted to share it.
I have read in this section for some time now and I have read countless times people say that people that believe in God kill in the name of God , they abuse children, they steal, cheat, destroy others all in the name of God.
Well while this is true that some have done so.
To be so smart, practical , and free thinking- Do you not think that it is exceedingly chimerical to believe or say that people who believe in God are the only ones who do such things.
Or to be of the opinion that everyone who says they believe in God are absolutely unalloyed, or Genuine?

OK IM DONE.........SORRY.

Be blessed

Okay, so I grew up 100 yards away from a huge southern baptist church in my hometown. I was raised there and was forced to attend church twice on sundays and once on wednesday.. with that in mind..

now that I am grown I don't feel as strong of connection to GOD as I once did. Im in school with a major in IT so I like scientific stuff. For me, is there a GOD that created humans and the earth and everything? Possibly. Did humans evolve from bacteria? Possibly. I just don't know.

Is this normal? I don't want to call myself atheist, (my parents would kill me) but I just don't know about all of it. Any advice?

A book mentions a man 2000 years ago who supported what was essentially democratic principles of Justice for all, treating everyone fairly and everyone being equal at a time when democracy didn't exist as a concept, way of life or form of government or practice? Pretty good going for someone who didn't exist.

Can't you see it's because we are trying to save you, just like you are trying to save us from that hell your God condemns us too.

Whats with the double standards? If you don't like me preaching my atheism to you, why do you do preach your stuff to me?

This question is mainly directed at the religious people who come out with that "Believe in what I believe or you burn in hell" rubbish.
