Too true -- it begs the question: if it's so important to god that we do what's right, why would he entrust the spreading of his word to humans, who are corrupt and fallible by their very nature? Why wouldn't he come and talk to us personally? Is an infinite, all-powerful being somehow short on time?

Yes I do believe he entrusted men to write the bible. Shocking to everyone's beliefs, there were and still are some good hearted, god-fearing people out there. I am sure he chose carefully.
I am wondering what you believe in since your question contradicts some of your others. Seems like you believe in something, just not the bible since it was written by man, congrats! Keep searching, you will find the answers you are looking for. Just remember, there is no perfect religion, atheism included!

I agree, that is why the Bible says no man may add to my word. The Bible was originally written by men who were being spoken to by God. The new testament on the other hand are accounts being written by followers and their teachings of christianity. That is why the 1st four books of the new testament basically talk about the same events but they are written from 4 differents view points.

God has written the rules and principles of mathematics into the universe around us. But no parent would expect their child to be able to discover counting, adding, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, ratios, geometry, trig, algebra, caluclus, statistics, etc all on their own by simply looking at nature.
No one person in all history has ever done that. It has taken generations and hundreds of minds to come to an understanding of all that. And much of it was found and then lost because people were unable to pass the knowledge on to the next generations.
So how could we reasonable expect a single person to be able to comprehend all of God (a far more complex subject then math) without any assistance, teachers, books, etc.
Rather if God were to reveal himself it would have to be in a generation by generation form, each building on the knowledge of those before them. Each recording their encounters with God and passing them on. Which is exactly what you have in the Bible. Knowledge build from the learning and understanding of multiple generations - just as you get with any other kind of knowledge, such as math, medicine, history, engineering, etc.
The most reasonable and logical way for God to reveal himself would be in book written by those who encountered and were inspired by him.

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it.
Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held.
Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books.
Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin.
Believe nothing just because someone else believes it.
Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true
All I have to say to your question "Do you really think God would have entrusted man to write the bible?"? and what I truly believe in my heart is Yes
Yes for the fact of "Free Will" and maybe just to see if people lived life with and open mind and to remember the Truth will always rise in the end : ) one day all the Truth taken from the Bible and twisted to suit who-ever it may please for what ever reason one day will appear.
It maybe dismissed and then maybe it won't : )
“Religions die when they are proved to be true.
Science is the record of dead religions.”
Just like Gnosticism when the Catholic killed 200,000 Men, Woman & Children
The word 'Gnosticism' is a modern construction, though based on an antiquated linguistic expression: it comes from the Greek word meaning 'knowledge', gnosis (γνῶÏιÏ). However, gnosis itself refers to a very specialised form of knowledge, deriving both from the exact meaning of the original Greek term and its usage in Platonist philosophy.

Maybe if you open your mind and read more then just the Bible
Love & Blessings

The Bible is not rubbish, but it is a very complicated book and people can interpret it many different ways! One should not preach from the Bible, because of this, but one should read the Bible for guidance!

Oh Yes! With God's Holy spirit to guide them, 44 men did what they were inspired by Holy spirit to do.
Don't forget, some of the writers were talking about what was going on around them. Why should you doubt first hand knowledge?

Your question isn't even worth answering! Have you even read the bible?
Besides the Authors were guided as they wrote, so in essence they were controlled in a way!
