It depends from your heart and mind. That is voluntary in nature. Anything of value is recognized by God. Your Pastor could not force and if he force you , he is false Pastor. Go away from that religion where you belong. It is a false religion.

there is more to give than just to giving than things you own. I am a broke college student taking care of my sisters two kids. I dont have things such as money to give but I help coach my old high schools autism teams. It is the best feeling ever those kids are great. Its the small things in life that matter not how much money you give its how you can change ones life with the simplest thing such as a smile or a hi how are you.

You can give of valuable assets BESIDES money, like donating your time to volunteer, or being a big brother/sister. As long as you have yourself, you will have something worthy to give. When I was in college, I worked, and didn't have a lot of funds. I donated time reading textbooks onto tape for blind students at my school. You can always find a way, and there is always need somewhere. It is so good to want to share what you have, even if it's not monetary. I'm sure you have talents. :)
Happy giving.

Your heart. Give God the praise of mouth that brings the good news to others so that you may be saved and so as to save others.
As it says: when suffering evil - pray. Of course, you have to pray as is taught and not to saints or Jesus, but to God in the name of Jesus.

Your half way home brother. God told the rich man that to enter heaven that he should forsake all his possesions and follow God whole heartedly. So give God all of your heart and you will be fine.

To your first question; No. In fact it is sometimes liberating. To your second question; yourself. Your time, talents, and whatever else you might have. You may think it very little, but it means something to someone.
