When we need food, our bodies make us hungry, when we need sleep, our bodies make us sleepy, and to perpetuate the species, our bodies make us lustful. Why is this a sin? Without it, we would die out as a race.

According to Mark Chapter16 verse 17-18 it says

"There will be signs for true believers and among the signs - In my name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak foreign tongues, new tongues, they shall take up serpents - And if they drink deadly poison, they shall not be harmed - And when they place their hand over the sick, they shall be cured."

Has any of the true Christian Believers in Yahoo Answers taken this test? Is there anyone who is willing to take this test in front of other people? You can give me the results later.

Greetings

As a bit of an introduction, I am both a former Muslim and a former Atheist (I went from Islam to Atheism) who is contemplating converting to Catholicism. I have been studying a number of Catholic doctrines controversial among Protestants, have pretty much felt most of them can be fairly well defended. Regarding the Hail Mary specifically, I have concluded that most of it is Biblical, and there is nothing sinful about it within the Christian paradigm, since it is, essentially, asking Mary to pray for us (cf. James 5:16), and her being the Mother of the Believers (Revelation 12) makes her a good person to ask such.

Anyway, to refine my understanding of this issue (and other issues I have been studying), I have specifically seeked out debate with anti-Catholics. One objection by an anti-Catholic struck me as interesting: how can Mary hear mutliple requests (e.g. thousands, if not millions) which are uttered simultaneously? Can Catholic apologists address this issue for me?

Okay, let's say that hypothetically, you're on your death bed. And someone of a different faith comes to you and tries to get you to convert to their religion. (Doesn't matter what belief you have, the guy coming to you is just a different one). What would you do?

I understand that masterbation is wrong if you look at porn or other types of sexually explicit pictures as you are commiting adultry with the person in your heart but is it wrong if you read erotic fiction or make up a person in your mind as a masterbation tool? I mean, is it possible to commit adultry with someone/thing who doesn't exsist?

Say, a Buddhist man is in love with a Christian woman, is it possible that their relationship can lead to marriage? Will they face a lot of difficulties? Should they forget their love and find someone of the same faith?

He gave to me sweet roses.
He left intact the thorns.
To teach me to be cautions.
As a way to gently warn.
Life comes with sweet and bitter.
You cannot pick and choose.
In order to win the battle
You must not be afraid to lose.
Sweet are their fragrance.
Though their beauty fades away.
Roses are a reminder.
So too will end this day.
Let me cherish every rose
And enjoy them as I may.
Knowing what makes them sweet
Is that they cannot stay.

I want to add that I have found many beautiful different roses here on YR&S
Peace Be With You.

If you are not a Christian, then you are free to admit that she was not a virgin. But then why do you jump to the conclusion that she either did something immoral or was raped? Biblical scholars point out that the idea of the virgin birth was not even mentioned in the earliest Christian writings. The idea seems to have been unheard of until several years after Jesus' death. So why not believe that Mary had Jesus when she was married to Joseph, perfectly morally, and that the idea that she was a virgin when she conceived was made up later, to illustrate the divinity of Jesus?

To accuse Mary of sexual sin is to accept that people thought she was a virgin all along. Where is your evidence of that?

I am NOT in any way criticizing Catholicism, understand the veneration of saints, and do not believe it is idolatry.

However, it seems many are devoted to Mary to the point that it could be called an cult within a religion. Not a cult in the sense of the negative, but an cult in the sense it is often referred to a sect of a religion that venerates an aspect of that religion.

It seems many almost worship Mary, and many devote their lives and thoughts to Mary more than Jesus. It could be said you are most devoted to what is most often in your mind.

So do you believe that there is an hidden Marian religion within the Catholic Church, a hidden trend, and does it fulfill the role of the Divine Feminine that expressed itself as an aspect in every religion of the past?

The Swedish government has produced a book on the Holocaust entitled Tell Ye Your Children, which has been distributed throughout the country free of charge to all households with children. This publication notes that Jehovah’s Witnesses “refused to swear an oath of allegiance to Hitler and Nazi Germany. Such resistance is exceptional because merely signing a document declaring their allegiance would have ended their persecution—yet few chose this option.”

Jehovahs Witnesses were the only group given a choice to stay in the concentration camps or swear allegiance to hitler.

Historian Brian Dunn stated: ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses were incompatible with Nazism. Most important of the Nazi objections to them was their political neutrality. This meant that no believer would bear arms, hold office, take part in public festivals, or make any sign of allegiance.
