The group of people, particularly the Hebrews or the Jews, who take vows some are from birth till death and some are for certain period of time, are called "Nazirite" or "Nazarite."

In the Philippines, we called it "Panata" but only for once in a long while, like fasting once in a week, month or year, etc.

We normally think of `Religious` when we use this term but also married people take vows as well and there are other instances where a person might take a vow.
Priests,Nuns, Friars, Monks and other religious callings envolve taking the `Vow of chastity and obedience.`
