He gave to me sweet roses.
He left intact the thorns.
To teach me to be cautions.
As a way to gently warn.
Life comes with sweet and bitter.
You cannot pick and choose.
In order to win the battle
You must not be afraid to lose.
Sweet are their fragrance.
Though their beauty fades away.
Roses are a reminder.
So too will end this day.
Let me cherish every rose
And enjoy them as I may.
Knowing what makes them sweet
Is that they cannot stay.
I want to add that I have found many beautiful different roses here on YR&S
Peace Be With You.

Very beautiful. Very inspired. Thank you for sharing this "rose," which I shall carry with me throughout this day.
We Buddhists call this "impermance." I've pasted a link below.
Have a beautiful day, abundant with joy. Peace, love and happiness.

A collection of trite, overused sentimentality. If you want to write poetry at least try and come up with some similes that are new and interesting and not use ones that the reader knows even before reading the next line. This is not a personal attack but if you put your poetry up for public comment you have to be ready to accept what comes.

Sister, This poem is so very true, I hope anything I have ever answered. That someone can see that I am just a little rose. A little rose that love God & try to help some sincere person through this life, I may not be a rose to you, But I am to God. Keep those poems coming.

Debra I could not help but think of the Blessed Virgin Mary as I read your poem, and as Roses seem to be Her favorite flower I was also reminded of the beauty and the thorn together.
God bless.

well of course I love it. not just because of the roses.
