How many people on this site believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

Ok, since my last attempt at this resulted in...no one actually taking the time to see that it wasn't about healing amputees. So, I'm not going to ask any question like that...instead I'm just going to describe the video I would like you to watch and comment on.

The video contains 10 questions that are often asked of Christians. The answers usually given result in like God's Will and all kinds of things and to explain them, you have to come up with a strange excuse for God that is so strange that you don't think about it anymore because it doesn't fit with your image of a loving God...it makes you feel uncomfortable.

So I challenge you to watch this video and maybe try your own answers.

There was just a question asked about extraordinary beliefs being proved. It's at

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsbPzD8JJeoo_jzuSOXS2Kzd7BR.?qid=20070520173636AAdxy1A

My question, specifically for people who don't profess a spiritual belief, is about love.

Do you love someone? I think that love, like spirituality, is also extraordinary. Wouldn't one then need proof of love?

How do you prove to your loved ones that you indeed love them? Are actions enough? How do you quantify loving someone? Is it all brain patterns? Are emotions involved? How do you quantify them?

I'm truly interested in answers from all realms, but particualry from Athiests. My personal belief is that everyone finds their own truth, and I'm asking the question to truly try and understand and not be snarky. Thanks!

.........because I do not have a flippin' clue what the answer is.

Atheists, you don't believe in God(s) so are you your own "God" to some extent? Am I correct when I say you don't believe in the rules and regulations of Christianity or religion and someone has to be in control and that someone would be you. Am I correct? I have a question I want to ask but I don't want to post without having the correct information. Thanks in advance for answering this quick - please answer asap.

How do we know who is filled with satanic ideas ?

Early Christians were teaching some concepts which are seen today as being satanic and yet at the time everyone thought they were being guided by the Holy Ghost.

People really do not know if a large percentage of what they believe is wrong and has been inspired by satan and not the Holy Ghost.

If a Catholic and a Protestant can teach exactly opposite and contradictory concepts and both say they are inspired by the Holy Spirit then ONE has to be WRONG.

on Mars, Titan, or some other body in our own little galaxy, would that change your views on creation at all? I know this question has been asked before about meeting intelligent alien life, but what about even microscopic life? It is entirely plausible that we find something like this some day. And considering that would mean 2 bodies in our relatively teeny tiny solar system hold/held life, don't you think the odds substantially increase that there is intelligent life elsewhere? How would you interpret this with your faith or beliefs?

So many bible fallacies, made up stories and inconsistencies. So many modern day church scandals. How about the fact that you have absolutely no reason to really believe that god or jesus, allah, jehovah, or any god you worship is real (I do understand that it's about faith though). Understanding all of that. I don't understand why you guys just can't be honest when someone points out really ridiculous things to you.

Okay, we all know snakes don't talk. Or no one can die and come back to life. We also know that a village of people can't be turned into a pillar of salt because they did not obey god. How about promising all of the men virgins after death. We know that people really should celebrate holidays on the day because it really hurts our children when we punish them like that.

How do you defend aspects of religion that you admit or know are false or make ridiculous claims to its followers?

I'm not religious at all, but I think I need a bit of help. My mother used to pray for me, but she died last year. I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I mean that if I were to say that I can balance a chair on my nose, someone would say "prove it" and if I wasn't able to do so, they would know I was lying.
Similarly, if I were to say that I believed that the universe was created by a giant mutant star-goat and that I knew he was real, I'd have to prove it wouldn't I?

So, why do people simply shrug and say "you have to have faith" instead of actually providing proof when they say "god is real".
That's a fairly direct statment. They say that this imaginary sky-pixie called god, is real. Real is defined thusly in the dictionary; "being an actual thing; having objective existence; not imaginary."
So someone MUST have objective evidence to support the existence of this god right? But if they do, why hasn't ANYONE been able to provide such proof? Ever.
The fact is; god is imaginary. Extraordinary claims that god is real MUST be followed by extraordinary evidence or proof.
And there isn't any. Why? Because he's imaginary that's why.

1) The competing theories of scientific evolution and creationism?

2) How to spell and use proper grammar?

It's absolutely appalling how many people cannot write coherent sentences, spell correctly, punctuate, use proper contractions, or discern when it's appropriate to capitalize words. I know people with five or more years of college (even some school teachers) who can't write correctly!

Is there some hidden virtue in spelling owned, pwned? When did intentionally looking stupid become desirable? We're all worked up over children learning something we think might be wrong, meanwhile, they aren't learning things we KNOW are right.

Instead of worrying about human origins, let's focus on teaching our youth things like how to balance checkbooks, manage credit, eat healthy, engage in sex safely, not pollute the planet, and COMMUNICATE intelligibly?

How can we complain when students from China and India come here, pwn our kids, and their jobs? They use better English than we do!

I will admit I don't know a whole lot about it...but have read a few answers on here pertaining to it...so then when jesus raises the dead some believe it isn't physical bodies...but our soul? If that is correct than does that mean when someone dies they don't go to heaven quite yet?

I have read about the Catholic Church and its strange doctrines. When most of them have been explained to me, they can be somewhat acceptible. The one doctrine to me that does not make sense is having no salvation outside the Catholic Church. What about the Bible and what it says on salvation? I would like to understand why this is so.

I'm an atheist but I ask sincerely, so respectful answers please.

For those of you who are believers, where is it that you have found him? I'm assuming the answer might be faith, within yourself, or a combination of the two.

I'm interested in your thoughts on this.

After all...we are supposed to be a "christian" nation....so seeing as how apparently god doesn't mind divorce...why don't we give gay marriage a chance...I am sure we could all learn a thing or two about staying together. Funny how I don't see politicians on Capitol Hill arguing about divorce and cohabitation with nearly the same ferver as gay marriage.

Our congregation had the Circuit Overseer this week.he gave a talk & well it has had me thinking alot!Im sort of confused so im hoping one of you guys could help me.He mentioned Myspace.he went on to say that many witnesses have a page on that website.that why would anybody that is a servant of Jehovah want to be involved in that.He said that he couldnt believe how badly people talk about Jehovah on there.I really dont know what he is talking about because i have never seen anyone mention anything about Jehovah.Maybe some of you have but i never have.so when he asked"Why would any servant of Jehovah want to be involved in anything that talks bad about him" I started thinking of yahoo answers. i see many people talk so bad about Jehovah & his people! So are we doing wrong by getting involved?i dont want to do anything that may displease Jehovah. so what do you think?

Maybe the most controversial, on-going dispute is God's existence. And it has been going on and on for thousands of years since we appeared on this earth (Whether you believe it was by evolution or by Adam & Eve's story or whatever you believe in.) People ALWAYS fought over this matter: Is there a god? If so, is he/she alone or are there other gods/goddesses? What does he/she look like? Where is this god? And quite frankly I used to ask so many questions about this matter. But I found that the best thing to do is let go. I'm really no longer concerned how the universe begun, or WHY are we here. See, the point is we ARE here, and what really matters is HOW do we live, not why. And I became less & less concerned about after my death, I mean it's so depressing to keep thinking about death all the time: I'm gonna die when I'm gonna die. I don't care if the world begun from a Chevy, all I care is to lead a happy, fulfilling life, and try to be a good person, because I WANT to!
Thoughts?

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Is it possible He meant our spiritual needs only? If so, why didn't He explicitly point it out ?

It's my body and my body
Is nobody's business but my own
Listen to me people
'Cause I wanna let it be known
It's my body and my body's
Nobody's business but my own

I know what I'm doing
So why don't you leave me alone
It's my body and my body's
Nobody's business but my own

I'm a grown up woman
And I know who I am
So if you got a problem
Well I don't give a damn
Ain't no doubt about it
'Cause baby it's written in stone
It's my body and my body's
Nobody's business but my own

I've had it up to here
With all you holier-than-thous
Who want to save me from the devils wicked den
Quit shoutin' in my ear
With All your curses and your vows
I only wish I never had to hear
Your voices again

Don't quote me no commandments
Don't preach me no jive
There's only one commandment
Thou shall survive
You don't even know me

So why don't you leave me alone
It's my body and my body's
Nobody's business but my own
Maybe you don't like it
But baby it's written in stone
It's my body
Not your bodyAnd my body
Is my business
My business
Is my business
And nobody's business
But my own

questions like:
"Look at the pretty flowers and trees and tell me how there isnt a God"
or
"If you see there is a watch you assume there is a watch maker right"

These questions seem so elementry to me and it seems an insult as if I have never pondered where trees and flowers came from.
Your thoughts please?
