That is the very essence of the spiritual struggle............."Why do the things of the world have to look so good?".........indeed. this is so true! I know what you're talking about..............some part deep within your soul yearns to follow Jesus, yet, the pleasures of this world and all its derivatives are so sweet and pleasing to the flesh....almost irresistible. it's an unfortunate reality that we are constantly caught in a struggle between the desires of the soul and the desires of the flesh.....because we are both soul and flesh. but which way do we choose to go in this constant tug-o-war? we can be assured of one thing - the flesh has nothing to look forward to but death and decay, so following the desires of the flesh is only going to provide temporary satisfaction. But the soul looks forward to eternal life......and wants to lead us in the direction that Jesus is calling us. So although the things of this world are sweet to the flesh, the better investment to make is the long term one - Jesus. and hey........even if you can't find that prince charming among any guy here on earth, you don't have to be a hopeless romantic - Make Jesus your one true love. :)

Why do you think that a Christian can't be a romantic? Read Song of Solomon sometime in your Bible. THAT is some sexy stuff. :)
Don't worry about looking like a Christian or behaving like a Christian overnight. Give your heart to Him first and like another poster said, the rest will fall into place. What the world offers will always compete with what God offers. Always. So don't let that be the thing that keeps you from salvation. I understand your confusion and agree, it's a puzzling feeling when parts of you are pulled towards something eternal but the rest of you still grips the stuff you can see and smell and touch. Just take a deep breath and take one step of faith.

The world is so enticing hu? Thats the way the enemy of our sould is. Get involved in a christian group of some sort. Don't get bored in life. Be careful what you absorb because it becomes a part of who you are. Pray for strength girl and read your bible. Its power on paper. Im 44 now and have been through alot of sinful things in this life. I accepted Jesus when I was 12 but I didnt follow his path like I should have and it cost me miserably. It HURT BAD!!! Please be careful this world is evil. Jesus is coming back soon so put your mind on that and he will supply you with the man of your dreams when it is the right time.Being romantic is OK but dont rush a good thing or it could end up being a bad thing. His timing is always right, when we rush things we screw it all up.(Like me I ended up pregnant and unmarried at 15) Be good, Im praying for you and will see you in heaven one day because Im inspired for you too.Nspired4u2

The things of this world look good to me too sometimes and I have been a Christian for 35 years. You just need to decide what is more important -- the things of the world or Choosing to follow Jesus. The ball is in your court - make the shot.

I don't know your age, but the last thing you want to be is hopeless. What is your vision for the future? If you don't have any idea of what you want, how will you recognize it when it happens to come along? Opportunity comes any time day or night and when you least expect it. It is any shape, color, size, or gender. Get your head out of the clouds, put your feet on the ground. Romance is a word in the dictionary. Logic, planning, organizing, preparing is what is needed to live in a real world. Finances, children, in-laws, professions is what makes up every day life. Mon, tues, wed, thur, fri, sat, sun. Life is day to day.

i follow jesus and it has made a lot of things a whole lot clearer, but im not saying that it will definately for you too, and i guess it would depend on why you want to "stay with things of the world." It's okay to be a hopeless romantic sometimes but others, you will find you have to take things into your own hands.

Of course it is ok. You can be both. Jesus never said dont be a hopeless romantic and he never said dont enjoy yourself in the world. I have found that if you follow him then you will get to enjoy the world :-)

of course its ok to be a hopeless romantic. you don't have to not follow jesus b/c you are waiting for prince charming. God knows the desires of our hearts and he knows that you are searching for this prince charming. But he also wants you to put him into your life and if its the right time and place for you in your life then he will send you your prince charming.

It all boils down to Eve in the Garden of Eden and your lusting for the apples off the tree of life. But with Armageddon right around the corner, You can ask yourself one question...Is he worth spending eternity in pain, agony and misery? Most people have to endure that when they get a relationship. But in all reality picture yourself in an incinerator from now on and ask yourself was anything on this plane of existence worth 1 day of that? Take care and may God bless you spiritually.
