Biblical or Not? Forgivable or Not?

2007-05-16 04:49:21 · 13 answers · asked by RAY KENNEDY 2

It contains a story of a man who gets drunk and impregnates both of his daughters after his wife dies.

There are incidents of people eating their own children.

Children are sacrificed on an altar to a god.

Animals are ritually sacrificed.

Two of the men seem to have a homo-erotic relationship and one states to the other that 'your love far exceeds that of a woman'.

The book also contains many occult practices, such as divination, conjuring, and speaking with the dead.

There is a bizarre poem about incest with a man's underage sister, and comments about horse semen.

The book also openly promotes slavery and polygamy, and the keeping of royal brothels?

Several times, characters in the book have sex with their step-mothers or the mistress of their father or other relatives.

Prostitution is openly displayed.

Murders and lynch mobs are common in the book.

Should this vile book be kept out of the hands of children?

Why are people who believe in religious fantasies allowed to brainwash children.

No offense to those who are reality challenged but shouldn't practice your obsessions in private and not contaminate children

daughters, but have fits about a phallic symbol in a disney movie that's hidden so that young children won't notice? Why is it okay for them to hear about the spies and the prostitute(Joshua 1:1-2:23), but a purple teletubby is too dirty for them to watch? Judah and the prostitute?(Genesis 38:1-12-26) The sin of Onan? are these stories appropriate for children ages 0 and up?

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast."

1. It is God's grace that saves a man from hell.

2. It is not a man's faith that saves him from hell because a man's faith is a gift from God. A man's faith is not some personal attribute that a man makes for himself.

3. It is not a man's good works that saves him from hell because doing good and being a good person is not enough to save a man from hell.

4. Therefore, it is not a man's faith or goodness that saves him from hell. The only thing that saves a man from hell is God rescueing him. Man is naturally doomed to go to hell unless God resues him.

5. God rescues man from the inevidibility of hell by way of Jesus and what He did on the cross. Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins of man so that God would not judge man and send him to hell.

Some people seem to readily rely on faith. Others detest not knowing and seldom place trust in anything.

Is it possible to live without faith in anything or anyone?

I think the majority of Christians don't believe in a litteral week of creation. They think that scientific facts show that we had an evolution that took millions of years. Does someone know of any scientifically proved fact that inevitably says that living beings are the result of a long time evolution and that proves a literal week of creation impossible?

(by putting logic aside) to try to understand what motivates a Christian and you ask a question and the reply is a giant stream of biblical quotations instead of their own thoughts and feelings, do you ever read the scriptures they copy and paste?

As a Christian songwriter, I want to write about issues that the church needs to address. What are subjects, relevant to our times that seem to have been ignored? So far, I have considered writing about homosexuality, death, sadness and loneliness. There must be many more issues. Feel free to suggest other important topics. Serious answers only, please. Thank you.

1. God LOVES you and offers a wonderful PLAN for your life.

"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" John 3:16.

Why is it that people are not experiencing the abundant life?

2. Man is SINFUL and SEPARATED from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God's love and plan for his life.

Man Is Sinful
"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23.

3. Jesus Christ is God's ONLY provision for man's sin. Through Him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life.

"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8.

4. We must individually RECEIVE Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.

"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" John 1:12

the bible speaks of signs that the end is near. things such as food shortages, earthquakes, nation rising against nation and so on.

We know that God has the ability to forsee the future. So when he had man write down in the bible these things that were to come upon the earth and usher in destruction; do you think its possible that God was not saying that he himself would cause these terrifying events, rather than mankind would bring these things into existance?

we know that global warming is a very popular subject in recent months and years. The effects global warming is having on the earth is flooding, more frequent and stronger storms, droughts and so on. Global warming is also widely thought of as a man made problem.
