Biblical or Not? Forgivable or Not?

Biblical. They were used in the New Testament. The only reason women were told not to speak in Church was to keep down discussion. They were to go home and ask their husbands. Today women do preach and my wife is one of those women. She doesn't have to ask me because she has a college education in biblical ministries. However, I do not sit under her leadership because I am her husband. Other men, however, can.

There is a verse in the Bible that says that women should not speak in the church, so I would say that Biblically women should not be pastors.

1 Timothy 2:11-12 proclaims, “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” In the church, God assigns different roles to men and women. This is a result of the way mankind was created (1 Timothy 2:13) and the way in which sin entered the world (2 Timothy 2:14). God, through the Apostle Paul’s writing, restricts women from serving in roles of spiritual teaching authority over men. This precludes women from serving as pastors, which definitely includes preaching to, teaching, and having spiritual authority over men.

However, I have a hard time believing that a woman being passionate about God and wanting to preach what He says is unforgiveable. I would go to a church with a woman preacher. Oh, and if it matters, I am Southern Baptist.

If you say "Forgivable or not", doesn't that imply that you already believe it to be a sin?

I think that clergy have been TRADITIONALLY men. However, I do not believe that there is any biblical basis for prohibiting women from holding the office of Pastor in a church.

Many will argue differently, but those very same arguments were once used to prevent women from teaching Sunday school, from teaching parochial school, and voting in the church. In my church (the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod), these arguments are now being used to keep women out of the clerical collar, but I think that before too much longer, we will join the many denominations who are already ordaining women.

In any event, I don't see it as an unforgivable sin. Even if I'm wrong, and it is a sin to ordain women, it can be forgiven as can any other sin.

I don't like it. I prefer a man. Biblically, there is mention of female teachers, but I'm not sure to what degree. At my church, the pastor's wife speaks sometimes, but under the umbrella of her husband. We believe the man is the head, but a wise man knows that sometimes a woman is better equipped to deal with certain subjects so he asks her to speak. I think that a woman can be a pastor if her husband is still her head and is giving her the place to speak.

Everything is forgivable except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

No woman Preachers. The Job for woman is to stay Home and take care of the house and children and submit to her husband. Submitting isn't just telling the woman what to do. She has to agree on most of the rules her husband set. This is coming from a Proud Christian woman that submits to her husband.

Also I do support some woman to be assistant pastors to help with young girls and teen girls and young woman and woman with female issues and rape and ECT.

I believe the Lord intended for a man to preach his word, in church. Although everyone should be involved in spreading the word of God to others outside the church. As a Christian I grew up learning to forgive people, so I suggest that you forgive her. God will forgive any sin as long as you pray to him and you repent.

Not biblical. Forgivable? Yes, for those that are repentant and quit preaching.

Sisters have a very special place in God's Purpose and plan..but it is not in the position to teach over a brother.
Under God's grace YES. we are the many sons of God

But under God' Governmental Order in the Universe we need to take the covering of the men who take Christ as their COvering and Christ who takes God as His covering..
This is why " head covering " is so precious to God when he sees it on a woman.

It says to Him that this woman sees her position and the protection of the covering I have provided for her..
When satan rebelled .. He rebelled against God's governmental order.. he wanted his throne to the North.. to be in God's place...
Apart from pride.. Rebellion and insubordination were the crucial sins that he committed in God's eyes

It is critical that sisters see their role in the church...We are not under the brothers in terms of our position so that they can " lord it over us" .. but its so that when satan tries to accuse us before God.. he has no ground ... he can't say that " Look God.. Look at those women coming out from Your covering... they do not have the right standing in your eyes..."

Eve's main reason for being fooled by the serpent was because she came out from under the covering of adam... doing things on her own .. and spoke directly to the sublte serpent who knew quite well why he approached the woman instead of the man...

We need to see that for a sister to not only come out from under the covering of the brothers ..but to Teach in the position of a brother in the church meetings and have authority over them is something that is not according to God's governmental order
YES sisters can prophesy and speak for and forth God's word... but not in the way of teaching.. but in the way of giving their portion to the building up of the Body of Christ...
Its a very delicate matter and we need to see how far we allow the feminist movement to subtlly get into the Church...
I admonish all the sisters...to read this book by a brother called watchman nee called authority and submission ...
it is very clear and will really shine some balanced light on this matter..
It is a blessing to take the lead to submit sisters!
WOrd of encouragment to the brothers reading this..
Keep the Lord as your Head... You have a great and sober responsibility to all of us. Live pure and under the Lord's rule. Be a blessing to the Body of Christ for His name sake.
