Many Christians (including me) believe that the Bible (including the words of Paul) is the inspired, inerrant (error-free) Word of God. Therefore, yes, half the New Testament is equal to the rest of the Word of God. It's part of my Christian faith.

I'm interested in knowing WHY you think that's crazy.

Paul wrote 13 of the 27 books of the NT. (Not counting Hebrews) So, he wrote nearly half the books of the NT, but not nearly half the words. Christians believe that the NT is inspired by God. The writers of the NT wrote as they where lead by the Holy Spirit. That includes: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Peter, Jude, Paul, and the author of Hebrews.

He says in a number of places he was called and commissioned by Christ. He was taken from the highly legalistic Judaism of the time by a supernatural encounter with the risen Christ.

At that time he was told of what Jesus would do through his life.

In many places he says his teaching comes from revelations from Christ, not his own ideas.

He spent 3 years off in the Jordanian desert ("Arabia") just rethinking things with God to see where he had missed it. He realised that the Jewish religious Establishment outlook on things was flawed; nationalistic and legalistic, rejecting God's saviour.

Notice that he used the gift of praying in unknown tongues a great deal, as he tells the Corinthians. This enables supernatural revelation to come to one's spirit, and then to one's mind. This is a christian gift only, given by Christ to believers. He also had many visions and revelations, including seeing and hearing things that he wasn't permitted to make known.

Note that the Jerusalem church leaders saw clearly and accepted his calling of God to the gentiles (Galatians 1). Peter did later go the gentiles, but that was probably late in his career.

John's writings are also pretty powerful.

There are similar themes to Paul's in Peter's letters.

You must keep in mind that when Christ spoke, it was with the omniscience of God. When Paul spoke, it was with the faith of a human being. While I value Paul's letters as providing valuable insight into Christ's teachings from the time of the early church, I do not give them the same weight as Christ's teachings themselves. In my church we have a reading from the Old Testament, a reading from one of the Letters, and then finally a reading from one of the Gospels. During the Gospel reading the altar servers hold candles up on either side of the priest to signify that the word of Christ transcends all others.

No, because the words that paul wrote were given to him by inspiration of God.

In fact paul wrote this himself:

2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is God‑breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Yes, we believe Paul spoke words God gave him. This is not without precedent: after Moses died, Joshua took over and God gave the rest of the Law to the Jewish people through him.

There's no difference between Paul and Joshua in this context.

Paul was led by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 9:1
[ God's Sovereign Choice ] I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it in the Holy Spirit—

"For all scripture is God-Breathed and is useful for teaching, correcting, rebuking, and training in Christ." Or something like that. I'm sure someone else will give you the referrence. But I would also like to point out that the entire Bible was written by humans, inspired by God. God dictated, Paul wrote. It is the word of God.

Nah, some do, but not all. I made Paul say all that stuff. Remember, Paul's job used to be to hunt down and arrest Christians, and he wasn't even around when Jesus was teaching, he got and of his info thrid or fourth hand. Hi, my name is Bob and I'm the devil.
