I believe Paul is the greatest hero of Judaism since Moses.

I personally believe he knew that if he did not do something drastic then the precious covenant given to the Jews could be lost and redirected to the followers of Jesus, the Jewish Messiah.

After reading about the two sons of Isaac where it says Jacob would even use deception to get the blessing of the covenant from his father it is not hard to see how a very religious Jew would do whatever was necessary to make sure Judaism maintained the covenant.

He "converted" and then helped introduce some very powerful and wise changes to the message of Jesus that would insure the theological superiority of Judaism over these "renegades:.

1) Saul introduced the concept that the Christians should target their message for the gentiles thereby leaving the Jews alone.

2) Saul introduced Mithraism and polytheism into the foundation of faith to attract the pagans and gentiles.

3)Saul negated the Divine Law thereby leaving Christians without the ability to fulfill the holy covenant and establishing the laws of God on the earth.

4)Paul also negated the practice of circumcism which was a symbol of the covenant since the times of Abraham thereby sealing the fate for Christianity.

Genesis 17:9-10 ---Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.
This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

Galatians 5:2 ---- Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.

What do you think…… a possible scenario ?

We cannot blame the Jews for what one man chose to do on his own accord but you have to admire the superior intelligence and planning !

My daughter was born via IVF (test tube baby). She's a wonderful, normal, happy 3 year old who brings us great joy every day.
Shortly after she was conceived, a Christian I knew explained to me that my daughter would not have a soul because she was conceived outside the womb. So- does that mean that Christians don't believe she will have an afterlife? of any kind?
This does not trouble me, as I believe in life *before* death. But- I'm trying to understand what the Christian belief on this is.

There are sooo many different opinions and interpretations from nearly every poster that I can hardly find two common points between 10 people.

Several posters told me there was no way I could call Paul a Rabbi since he was not a Jew. Somehow I beg to differ !

My understanding was that Saul (Paul) was a Jewish Roman Citizen.

Hay or Nay ?

How can Christians worship a Jew who the Jews themselves did not believe was the son of their own God? Jesus was not the vision of the Jewish bible: how could he be the massiah?

Why would god suddenly suspend the laws of physics by letting one man walk on water, feed thousands with crumbs and fish, and rise physically to "heaven?"

Granted, quatum physics would allow for numerous dimensions, and remind us that nothing is constant, but why would all of that happen ONLY during one man's lifetime 2000 years ago? How is it that it never happened before or since?

Just answering, "Jesus was the son of God, therefore any thing was possible," IS NOT AN OPTION!

I don't understand where he came up with this.
Did he make it up out just to make himself feel superior to atheists? Does a lie make him feel just as righteous as a truth?
Is he trying to fool other christians into thinking he's knowledgeable? DO other christians consider him knowledgeable?
If one believes in god "just to be safe", what does that imply about his strength of character?
Is philly a christian?

if I was born and raised several centuries ago in south america, I'd think the only way to make god happy was by human sacrifice. I know making god happy is a good thing, so I volunteer.

a few centuries later in europe, I'm burning heretics at the stake. because it's god's will. that's what they tell me, and I believe them. pass the torch.

today in the middle east, some people think heaven is gained by blowing innocent bystanders to bits with car bombs. why? because they were raised to think so.

thank god we live in the 'enlightened' western world. all we believe is that god came to earth 2000 years ago, born of a virgin, walked on water, rose from the dead, wrote a magic book, and if you eat a cracker it turns into his flesh and you live forever. oh, and it's OK to kill anyone who doesn't believe that, because god loves america.

isn't religion stupid. don't you wish your children can be born in the future without having to grow up with these foolish ideas?

Hello, LDS! I hope I do this right. This is my first time on Yahoo Answers, hehe. Anyways, I have been meeting with a couple of LDS missionaries for the past few months. I am currently a non-denominational Christian but I am seriously considering converting to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I've been reading the Book of Mormon and asking the missionaries questions about it, and I just feel really inspired. I know a few people who are already members and they are some of the nicest, most wonderful people I know. I've attended some services and I can tell that these people truly love and accept Jesus Christ. I was just wanting a little bit of feedback from the LDS about how the being a member of the church has impacted your life. Did you convert or were you a lifelong member? Did you have doubts at first? Things like that. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you SO much! :-)

acknowledge him as a prophet in Medinah formerly known as Yathrib.

When someone mentions Mohammed...... then Christians urgently say there are no Prophets after Jesus.

When we mention that Rabbi Paul wrote most of the bible and he never even met Jesus then most Christians say that he was a divenly inspired Prophet equal to a messenger.

Then when we mention other writers of the gospels included in the NT then again people call them divenely inspired apostles or Prophets...

So which is it ?

Anti-Mormons, Anti-Catholics, Anti-Jehovah’s Witness, you name it. I have spoken to many of them and for the most part were very closed minded people who had no tolerance for anyone who doesn't think the exact same way that they do. I mean come on waving signs in front of temples and churches how pathetic is that?

I have heard on here time and time again, that Christians tell people ALL the time "You are going to burn in hell if you do not believe"...someone even said missionaries say this to small children.
I have never ever said this to anyone, no one I know has ever said it to anyone. I also have read a lot of answers on here and VERY seldom have I heard this. When I have the person is rude and most likely a troll.
Does the media give people this perception? Do I just live somewhere where people don't say it?
Have you actually had many Christians say this to you?

You do not need a deity to be a religion. Many Buddhists and Hindus have no deity, and neither do many Taoists.

You do not need prayer or such devotions, since those before mentioned religions do not quite have prayer (the closest they come to is meditation but if anything that is the time for silence and shutting out the senses, not for contact with a deity)

Also you do not need religious books, since the Budha rejected such books.

Religion is an attempt to bind yourself to some good consequence. For Buddhists, it is awakening. For Hindus it is moksha. For Christians, it is righteousness. And for Atheists I suppose it could be self-reliance (also common among many Therevada Buddhists)

Are there any statistics out there regarding what percentage of atheists are former theists?

Link 'em if you've got 'em.

If this is all there is and after this is nothing, that is meaningless

If you keep living over and over from a vegetable to an animal to a human to an insect, etc, that is meaningless and cannot be proven

What is the meaning to life? Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you will die? meaningless

What a cool life I have now, all of a sudden, my brain is connected to my moral code. No mindless default, I now own every bit of my morality, and I must say, its far superior to that of any religion...which of course is no boast at all.
