Anti-Mormons, Anti-Catholics, Anti-Jehovah’s Witness, you name it. I have spoken to many of them and for the most part were very closed minded people who had no tolerance for anyone who doesn't think the exact same way that they do. I mean come on waving signs in front of temples and churches how pathetic is that?

kappalok,

I said nothing about Gays, Abortion, Science, or art. What I am saying is that there are some closed minded people out there who can't accept that some one might not believe differently than they do.

I agree. I think you should be leery about any group that is anti anything. That is pure hate. I don't delve into that sort of thing. Hate eats at your soul.

Hugs

You need to make a differentiation here. There are those anti-something out of ignorance. They don't know much about what they are anti- about, just that they are anti-. These are the ones that you are talking about. Then there are those of us that are "anti" a specific religion because we are also "ex" of that religion (ie; exmormon, ex JW, etc). I think people should hear us out. We have been in the trenches, and the very reason many of us are ex- that religion is because we were open-minded in the first place. It is the people who won't listen to us who are closed-minded. As far as it goes for me, I prefer to be the flip side of the coin of the missionaries. I will tell converts what the missionaries won't tell them about the church (It's the milk before the meat concept...lure them in with the basics, then stick it to them once they are reeled in). Once I have told a convert things that they'll eventually find out later on, and they still want to convert, hell, I'll go to their baptism and support them 100%.

True believe mormons suffer from the same syndrome: "I have spoken to many of them and for the most part were very closed minded people who had no tolerance for anyone who doesn't think the exact same way that they do".

Say, isn't that kettle black?

Sorry you have JW's showing up at your chapel on Sunday. They're annoying, but it's a First Amendment thing.

Just be suspicious of anyone or any group that is ANTI-FREEDOM!!!!! Waving signs in front of temples and churches is a childish act, but freedom comes at a price! Along with the things we like come the things we don't like!

When it comes to religious beliefs, I guess so. The best way to find out about other beliefs is to go straight to the source. Most of the anti's have some sort of grudge against the faith and they will say anything to keep others away from it. They'll exaggerate. They'll provide a distortion of that faith's true beliefs. They'll bad-mouth the members. They'll refer to that faith as a "cult", etc. Fanatics like that are sometimes difficult to understand.

Yes and No. Case in point I am anti, as in against, murder.

You are correct that we need to be careful to not assume something is bad just because someone says so.

doesn't that make you "anti-anti"?
then shouldn't we be suspicious of YOU!

haha

but I get your point, but even though I partially agree, there is a flaw in your thinking. Just because someone is "anti" something doesnt make them a threat, its the people who are extremists with these beliefs that are the threats. being anti anything is just an opinion.

Not all of them are that way, some of them are just misinformed. That's why I as an LDS member clear up any misconceptions people may have when opportunity arises, that way they have a chance to get to know the real us! God bless!
