What a cool life I have now, all of a sudden, my brain is connected to my moral code. No mindless default, I now own every bit of my morality, and I must say, its far superior to that of any religion...which of course is no boast at all.

A little ego seems to be showing through your denial about not boasting. Just kidding, your ego is blatantly noticeable.

So now you can easily justify anything you do or say, right?
An adjustable moral code to serve your own purposes and desires, is that it?

Unfortunately, there are moral codes that will be imposed upon you, no matter where you go, what you say, or how wise you give yourself credit for being, my friend.

Christians, of course, subject themselves to the powers that be and follow the laws. It's part of being a Christian. May God bless you and may your new found "freedom." May it not result in any injury to you or anyone else.

I both agree and disagree with your 'statements' in the 'explanation' of your question. Yes, the Catholic church did do many 'evil things' but that doesn't mean that ALL Catholics agree with them, or would do similar if given the chance. I also have many friends who are atheist/agnostic, and I know them to be 'good, moral people' as my husband and I are. The 'FACT' that you are 'missing' here, though, is that 'religion' is so OLD that it can be 'dated back' to the very beginnings of primitive society, and it is 'from those religions' (many of which are no longer 'practiced' or 'believed in') that our 'moral code' comes ... If you would just 'reword' your 'sentence' 'Without religion there would be no morality,' to something more 'accurate' ... The first moral codes came with the early growth of religious thought in primitive times, but in this 'technological world' the 'moral code' exceeds the 'strictly religious' teachings of the churches today,' then you can see how I can 'agree' and 'disagree' with your whole 'idea' ... that relgion is 'bad' and could not make 'morals' ... religion can not be 'bad' nor 'good' ... and it is only the 'individual person' who can decide whether to 'follow that religion's moral code or take his morals from general society, or devise his own moral code. And by the way, calling something a 'moral code' doesn't INFER that it is 'good' ... the 'moral code' that was practiced by the Green River Killer, or the Oklahoma Bomber, or the people who ran the planes into the World Trade Center did not follow any 'church/synagogue/mosque moral code' but had a very 'evil' one ... so 'moral' does not ALWAYS mean 'good.' Think about that, then take a 'good look' at your 'explanation' again.

Hey, fellow human. What is cave-morality? Anyway, there is no morality without God. God is the source of everything good and moral. Without His moral guidance we would have no idea about what is right and wrong. You are not in prison, so I know that you are not doing what you think you have the freedom to do. Man without God's morality is capable of anything. If you're a male, it usually begins with abuse of women. First, thoughts of abuse, and without check, real abuse and physical pain.
Satan has you deceived, grasshopper. You only own a place in the lake of fire next to him.
But I agree that all religion is false and inferior. It's only a relationship with the living God, through His Son Jesus, that
we need. God comes for us,in this relationship. In religion man reaches out for God to please Him, but cannot.
Here's why you need Christ, caveman: www.billygraham.org
Maybe I'll get to meet you in prison someday. I do prison ministry.

Ethics and morality progress in the same way as other attributes of civil society e.g. most people no longer consider their wives to be their personal property ( unless you belong to certain religions of course).
The major religions of the world take their morality from the conditions pertaining thousands of years ago and we can see the result of that in the Middle East where Jews are fighting Christian and Muslim Arabs, Christians are fighting Muslims and Muslims are fighting each other.
These permutations have varied over the centuries but the need for mass slaughter has remained constant.

All religions are not false. But assuming that they are, you can have morality without God. But what level of morality are you speaking of? you can be raised with morality, learn morality, or even still, reject morality. What you cannot do is live righteously or be in right standing without God. The law of the land we will break. And morals we will not keep without the spirit of God.

So I guess that means you are your own "God" and are in no need of forgiveness or salvation. I suppose you feel there is no such thing as Heaven or Hell. I guess what you're doing is easy.Anybody can do it. What if their morality and self rules differ from yours? Now what? You can make your own rules, laws, right and wrongs.and change them as you please. That's pretty easy. I guess if you're in the mood to steal a car your own morality and rules can say that auto stealing is A OK and you did nothing wrong. Tell that to a cop. While you're at it, tell Jesus He suffer and died on the cross for nothing, you don't need Him.

Morality existed long before God spoke to Moses. In fact, God told the Israelites that the 'nations round about them had no law- but were more just than they'.
Stop being silly.

Reality flash, you own nothing in this world. Everything you have was given to you by the hand of God including your own body and mind. Maybe one day you will wake up and realize how selfish you have been thinking you have accomplished anything. Get right with God and give him the glory due him!!
