My name is Kyle. I am a 21 y/o male. I have recently decided that I do not believe in the Catholic God that I was brought up to know, and I was wondering the following for any college students out there who may be going through the same thing or who have gone through something similar in the past.

As a young atheist, what sort of challenges have you faced? Do you feel that your university is supportive of who you are, who you have chosen to be? Why do you feel that way? Can you cite an example?

Could you describe your transition from being a theist to an atheist using five words? Try. Then, how do those words define your transition?

I saw the special on Frontline on Mormonism. Was disappointed that they didn't really explain much on their beliefs on Jesus. Who is Jesus to the Mormons? Is He the Christ who atoned for our sins and saved us as we christians believe? Is He a prophet like Joseph Smith was to them? Seems like they call their churchs church of Jesus Christ of the LDS, yet they follow Joseph Smith's book on Mormonism and His teachings. So why don't they call their church The church of Joseph Smith and the LDS? I'm a true christian who believes only what's in the christian bible. Thanks

The bible tells us that in the latter times that many false christ will be preached and to beware that even if a angles give you another gosple do not heed there voice.

The bible also tell us that to die with out salvation before death,is to suffer the eternal fire of hell.

The mormons have collected the names of 20 percent of all the people that ever lived and in there temples preforms a form of baptising the dead. Claiming they will be saved.
Yeat these people never will recieve salvation because they did not recieve Jesus the Christ while on earth. They are already condeemed and await the judgement. They never heard his voice and they rejected him and are subject to Hell and the penalty of that rejection and there sin.

Jesus after he died went to hell and preached the gosple to all
the dead at the end of the days, He steped across to the end of days. So is this not a pure proof that the mormons are a cult
pure and simple, they are trying to do what Jesus did already?

Seriously stop being rude and posting messages saying, "if musliums ruled the world I would become a terrorist and kill them." Do you read your messages before you click enter? Obviously not, all religions should be respected.

Me for example, I help my friends, the poor, family. I try my best to always put people before myself and I'm muslium. Does that mean I'm a terrorist?

seriously everyone needs to stop sterotyping! Just because someone is muslum doesn't mean they are a terrorist. so what if the people in the plane on 911 were musliums they were a radical group. I'm sure there's radical groups in Christian and Jewish, In fact there is! So please don't let people make you become racist because of the gossip you hear from media.

"Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor JESUS ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409)

- Joseph Smith: founder, prophet, seer, and revelator of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ" (Galatians 1:6-7).

I think it is dangerous because:

A. It is redundant legislation, there are laws already on the books to take care of those crimes in general...

B. It may make thought a crime...

C. If you belong to a religion that believes that "unnatural affections" are a sin and you speak about it, you can be heavily fined or even arrested; that has happened already in Sweden and in Canada.

The implications and repercussions of this unnecessary legislation are wide-ranging and possibly dangerous and worst of it all it could be an unconstitutional assault on religious thought, speech, and expression.

It drives me crazy what the liberals are trying to do to this country. They say that it is perfectly fine to kill an innocent baby, but entirely wrong to repeat a verse from the Bible that speaks to a tenet of the faith and under this "hate crimes" legislation they could possibly put you in jail for it.

beliefs are just that. BELIEFS.

if someone believes something that makes them feel good/complete, then who are we to put them down for it?

i don't care if you worship God. i don't care if you worship nobody. i don't care if you worship a yellow-spotted venezualean tree frog. if it makes you happy, i'm not going to copy and paste some 1-million world article telling you that venezualean tree frogs are false creatures.

what's the point? it is not a competition or anything. just let people live, and butt out of their lives. do you agree?

what would you do if the person you are with came to a realization that there is no god? would you try to convert him/her back if he/she was still a good person and didn't try to convert you? if so, what would you say to them? or would you just leave them and find someone else with your beliefs?

And he spake also, concerning a prophet, which should come before the Messiah, to prepare the way of the Lord; yea, even he should go forth and cry in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, and make his paths straight; for there standeth one among you whom ye know not; and he is mightier than I, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.(1 Nephi 10:8)
Again, Joe Smith resorts to plagiarism in order validate his book. On the other hand, John the disciple of Jesus gives credit when quoting others.
He said: "I am 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: make straight the way of the Lord,' as the prophet Isaiah said."(John 1:23) It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.(John 1:27)

Can't you see he's taken text straight from the New Testament? And, they're still calling this another testament of Jesus Christ? Do you trust Joe?

I just read this book today. I'm really shocked and it got me to thinking. I know this book has been out for a while but everyone should read this book it's very interesting. When I started reading this book I told myself that I'm going to give up on believeing in god and worship satan or even be in the oucclit. Now I'm really thinking about giving that up and coming back to jesus after reading this book. I hope I don't have nightmares about the real hell now. Yeah this is a question so let me ask. Has anyone ever heard about this book? Or read it?
