I think it is dangerous because:

A. It is redundant legislation, there are laws already on the books to take care of those crimes in general...

B. It may make thought a crime...

C. If you belong to a religion that believes that "unnatural affections" are a sin and you speak about it, you can be heavily fined or even arrested; that has happened already in Sweden and in Canada.

The implications and repercussions of this unnecessary legislation are wide-ranging and possibly dangerous and worst of it all it could be an unconstitutional assault on religious thought, speech, and expression.

It drives me crazy what the liberals are trying to do to this country. They say that it is perfectly fine to kill an innocent baby, but entirely wrong to repeat a verse from the Bible that speaks to a tenet of the faith and under this "hate crimes" legislation they could possibly put you in jail for it.

A law that would prevent a person from hiding behind the Bible while spouting hate? Sounds just fine to me.

Any laws regarding what is called a 'hate crime' establishes a thought police per se. Let's say for example, that a man murders his neighbor. Whether this man's motive was racial or a robbery, it doesn't matter. Murder is Murder and it is wrong regardless why you do it. But, this new legislation wants to give harsher punishment to people who supposedly commit crimes because they 'hate' someone. Here is where the "thought police" come in. It is NOT illegal to dislike anyone or hate anyone for any reason. You can think negative thoughts about anyone at anytime. But, to use that as an excuse for committing a crime is absolutely absurd. It is even more absurd for the lawmakers to push the idea that there is even such a thing as a hate crime and that those people committing these hate crimes should be dealt harsher punishments. It's not crime to hate. But it is a crime to murder someone, rob someone, etc. etc. I don't care what the motive is..... Everyone should receive the same punshments for their crimes. I think political correctness in this country has gone way too far and really has made a joke out of our freedoms. We let people get away with too much, yet, the government is out to control our every move and thought in the name of these types of absurdities.

I think that no matter what is legislated, I will never stop saying what I believe. I think it was Churchill who said, "evil prevails when good men do nothing". But they said the things Jesus said were crimes, although they certainly were not. He didn't hate anyone at all. But from a place of honesty, compassion and great love always told the truth. And that's my goal. If some day I am fired for it, so be it. I have a friend who says he always tries to live the "always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within you." I am less keen on the idea of prison or martyrdom for what I believe, but since this life is just a vapor that's gone in a moment I hope when tested I say the truth no matter what. They can attempt to assault us, but they can not take our faith. They can not take what we will not give away! So I would say, don't worry - it's just a sign of the times - a sign that shows that this creation is winding down and almost over. The world has gone crazy in every possible direction. It is mercy that God says, "I have appointed a day when I will judge the whole earth." I say vote your conscience, love God and everybody with all your heart mind soul and strength, and say, "even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!"

I would say I am a more liberal Christian than a conservative Christian, I don't agree with Bush a lot of the time, but I pray for God to be a guide for him and help him make then right decisions. However, despite my liberal side I still can't stand all the attacks on our religious freedom. It's an attack against Christians, no other religion...the same liberals who want to get our religion done away with are the same liberals who argue that the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay...who have been arrested for terrorism...should be allowed to pray towards Mecca three times a day. They support any religion that isn't Christian. What is up with that? Trying to get "One Nation Under God" done away with...Nativity sets are offensive all of a sudden...and don't even get me started on their attack on the school system. They take things too far. Our nation was founded by Protestant Christians who came here to escape the rule of the Catholic church. Something I have learned over time is that one CHOOSES to be offended and they choose to be offended by anything that has a hint of Christianity to it.

Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Its all fulfillment of 2 Timothy 3 and 4

It is a battle that is leading to the final days. So in a way we can see it is coming and it will be passed someday. The Lord will separate us from the wicked on that day. Howard Stern can have freedom of speech for his smut but we can not have freedom of religion or freedom of speech on what the good book says.

I wonder if it will ever be considered a "hate crime" to belittle people because of their religious beliefs. If so, then won't THAT be interesting. Nobody will be able to speak against Christians for speaking against homosexuality since they are expressing their religious point of view.

I agree! I am praying that this Bill does not pass. I love this Country because of our freedom. I hope that we do not lose our freedom of speech.

"Father I pray that you forgive our Country for our evil wickedness and for kicking you out of our lives and I pray that we would change our laws and invite you back into every aspect of our lives and that our Country will turn from our sins and receive your Son, Jesus, as our Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen!"

In the book of Acts, Peter and the other apostles were warned against speaking the name of Jesus Christ. They went and prayed to God for even more boldness in preaching the gospel.

Good example for me.
