I am a practicing roman catholic hispanic. However, i have always worn the star of david in a chain around my neck for 17 years. My mom does not have a definite answer as to why she gave it to me when i was born, she simply says "Its a custom". Interestinlgy, i came across a roman catholic hispanic girl who also wears the star of david, and replied " my grandma gave it to me when i was born" when i asked why she carried it, but does not know anything else.

There are many jewish people in the school i go to and they are always asking me why i posses a star of david.

Any Ideas!!!

For example, the Catholics have a hierarchal structure consisting of the Pope, cardinals, (arch)bishops, etc. What happened to the term "apostle" or the term "prophet"?

And, yes, I am well aware of the use of the terms in the LDS Church. As far as I can tell, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only Christian denomination to use the terms apostles and prophets.

~that the Bible is the word of God.
~that the Bible is infallable.
~that god is all-knowing.

I'm not doubting that it's in there. I just want some locations. I hear these things stated as fact all the time, and have not yet encountered clear scriptural language to back it up. Please point me in the right direction.

I never have believed things the Bible said. I don't even have a Bible in my house and I have never read the whole thing, but I know it is all a bunch of crap. I mean, come on. Jesus being born from a virgin, Adam and Eve being the first humans, and Moses surviving a global flood on a big boat with two of every animal on earth. Yeah, very realistic. I believed these stories when I was about 5 years old and did not believe them when I got older and smarter. It contains good stories if you are into myths and fairy tales, but it is not a very historical or realistic book. I don't think anything can convince me the Bible is accurate. I don't believe any of the so called Biblical Prophcies because they can be fixed or added after an even happens. None of them are even easy to interpret. You might as well believe Nostradamus than believe the Bible Codes.

That's right. From around the period of 100 A.D., when Christianity was a persecuted religion within the Roman empire, Romans called Christians "atheist" because Christians did not believe in the pantheon of Roman gods. To the Romans, belief in a single god was a rejection of the truth... an atheism if you will.

Keep this in mind the next time you don't understand us.
What you did 1900 years ago, we are doing again today.

It's GOOD to be on the Lord's side and not of this world. Yes?
"...the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one." 1 John 5:19

Paul said in his Roman letter:
"...do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2

To those that are not of God; these Words (because they are God's) cut like a knife to the very soul.

However, it is food FOR the soul to the children of God.

My mother is Catholic, and my father is not really religious, although he was raised to be a Jehovah's Witness. I raised to celebrate all the holidays, but we were harldy religious. Now I want to make an effort. I want to be Christian, but I find it hard to get close to God. Even when I do go to church, I dont really feel it. What can I do to really get God in my heart? I know I do bad things sometimes, and when I pray I ask for forgivness. But is it not enough? Could it be Im not dong it right?

What If I'm addicted to Meth and I can't stop using? I've tried SOOO many times to quit, but I fail EVERY time. I've tried meetings, rehab, counciling, and hypnosis. I'm at my wits end. I need help because I can't keep living this way. I believe that When I die, God is going to tell me that I knew him and still could not give up my sins. How much greater is my punishment going to be? At this point I am so fed up with myself that I just want to die! I've continuously let myself, my God, And my family down. It says to turn away from my sins and each time I get sober I turn away with all of my heart. I don't know what happens. I end up messing up Again and again. Please don't be cruel with your answers, I have had all I can take. I know how horrible I am and don't need anyone else to tell me. This is my last plea for help. AM I doomed to hell?

2) are there also other books in the Catholic Bible besides the OT?
3) is there a book of priestly conduct?

thank you

Ok, I am not a religious person. But am I the only one tired of seeing the athiests and christians (mostly) have petty little duels on answers? I know this won't do much to stop it but its getting old. Come on people... there is more to do in life than bellyache over the internet. Your not going to change someones belief by being an arrogant teenager.....

Hello,
The church I have been attending for nearly all of my life is falling apart. In short, the elders, deacons, and other administrative figures are pushing for the resignation of the head paster and they are giving little to no reason as to why this measure should be taken. The congregation loves him and doesn't want to see him go (but then again, we have been given very limited information on the subject and are really not fit to make any judgment.) Anyway, there is a congregational meeting this weekend (where i hope to express my opinion) and I was wondering if anyone had any helpful quotes or bible verses i could use.
Some subjects I hope to cover: censorship, staying focused on god/where is god in all of this?, re-evaluating ourselves rather than others, etc.
