George Gelber, head of policy for the English and Welsh bishops' Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, said the bank should force Wolfowitz to resign amid allegations of corruption.
"Paul Wolfowitz has made corruption an essential part of his personal policy platform, not only in the bank but also among all major donors," Gelber said in an April 16 statement.
Mr Gelber as head of policy for the English and Welsh bishops' Catholic Agency for Overseas Development works regularly with the World Bank in its mission to help the poor all over the world.
Having someone in charge of the World Bank who has been accused of corruption affects them, their mission, and most importantly, the people they are trying to help directly.
With love in Christ.

Do you mean this story?http://www.cafod.org.uk/news_and_events/news/paul_wolfowitz_2007_04_17
If so, CAFOD - Catholic Agency for Overseas Development - does not speak on behalf of the Catholic Church, but is a charitable organization based in the UK. It works in the developing (third) world. Its organization includes experts who work with other major and minor developement players, and so they have a very strong interest in the good functioning of the World Bank, because the World Bank has a major impact on poor countries. If CAFOD think that Mr Wolfowitz's antics are harming the good functioning of the World Bank and so are harming poor people, then they have a good reason to speak about it.

The Catholic Church remains the single largest economic entity in the world, with assets of at least $3,000 Billion.
See: http://one-faith-of-god.org/final_testament/end_of_darkness/truth/truth_0020.htm
The Jesuits who won the war with the Popes ending at the start of the 19th Century with the restroration of the order and control of the Vaticans wealth created the international banking network we know today.
So the Catholic Church has both a financial vested interest as well as social vested interest in virtually every nation, every social topic in the world. Most recently, they want to see the current head of the World Bank resign- mainly because scandals are bad for business.

One thing that the Catholic Church should be speaking up concerns money. In the Bible you will find reference to the idea that God approves of honest weights and measures. All nations today are using worthless, inflatable fiat money. I would like to know why the Catholic Church has not condemned this practice.
Fiat money (currency that is not redeemable in gold or silver) has not intrinsic value. Its perceived value is dependent on how much of it is in circulation. When governments introduce new currency into the economy, they benefit in exactly the same manner as a counterfeiter would. That's why we have inflation.
When currency is redeemable in gold or sliver, the metal itself has intrinsic value. Gold and silver cannot be printed. This limits the amount of currency in circulation and eliminates inflation.
INFLATION IS STEALING BY GOVERNMENT.

The Catholic Church thinks everything pertains to them. They believe that they are Christ on Earth and the world is their domain. They do not believe that Christs Kingdom is coming, they believe they are the Kingdom and it is now.
It is a bad thing because it is a lie.

It keeps the light of the things that embarrasses them. We all at times can be hypocritical in our judgment. That is why Jesus told us to judge not lest we be judged by the same measure. The Bible calls those in the ministry...ministers of Grace.
We all have secrets which God in His mercy covered with Love. In return we must show mercy and love to our earthly brothers. Lord have mercy on us all.

Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad. They definitely have a high opinion of their place in the world. With billions of followers I guess they can back it up.

Bad for us , good for them. They are a self serving, self centered, arrogant, sanctimonious cult who believes they are gods voice for the world. And anything that people do needs their stamp of approval.
