It's GOOD to be on the Lord's side and not of this world. Yes?
"...the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one." 1 John 5:19
Paul said in his Roman letter:
"...do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2
To those that are not of God; these Words (because they are God's) cut like a knife to the very soul.
However, it is food FOR the soul to the children of God.

Lily,
"...the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." John 3:19-20
Can we NOW understand why they hate us so?

You are correct. Unless a person is born again and of God they don't understand this at all and also they don't understand Bible scripture either and tend to decide on their own what it means. For example I had a friend who was into that weird spiritual trash and she claimed to talk to spirits, and we so tried to witness to her. Then she told me that Jesus talked to the dead in spirit. I asked her if she for sure knows what that verse means, She then said yes, that Jesus talked to dead spirits. I had to tell her that this is not what it meant at all. I told her that it meant that basically Jesus talked to unsaved heathens who were dead in spirit but alive only in the flesh. In other words they are not of God but of the world. She didn't say a word, but I am sure it caught her attention.
I am a true born again Bible believing Christian. I try to tell many the true Gospel of Jesus Christ but so many just want to pleasure the flesh. To your question, I say AMEN!

It is wonderful to be on the Lord's side and not of this world. You can be "in" the world but not "of" the world. Paul said it best that we have to transform by the daily renewing of our minds. God bless you for your question. Your awsome!

I say it's always good to be true to your beliefs. It's hard to steer away from what the world deems as right but then again I don't see where a lot of good has come of that as of late. So go with your gut. I would go with God but that's just me.

How do those words cut to my very soul? Not any different then the many words I read from people like you.
I also don't side with the world in many cases, with the various beliefs and more that I have. Those don't include a belief in God however.

I am not "of God," and those words do nothing but disgust me. This is the kind of viewpoint that leads people to make crappy decisions about our future because they believe the "Rapture" is coming.
P.S. You have deluded yourself into thinking that the Bible is "God's Word." "I'm right because I say I'm right" is the logic that lies at the root of this belief. I'm sure you would think it ludicrous in any other circumstance for someone to declare authority or correctness on that basis, but you so freely accept it for the Bible. Have you ever asked yourself why?
