I am a practicing roman catholic hispanic. However, i have always worn the star of david in a chain around my neck for 17 years. My mom does not have a definite answer as to why she gave it to me when i was born, she simply says "Its a custom". Interestinlgy, i came across a roman catholic hispanic girl who also wears the star of david, and replied " my grandma gave it to me when i was born" when i asked why she carried it, but does not know anything else.

There are many jewish people in the school i go to and they are always asking me why i posses a star of david.

Any Ideas!!!

There is no proof in an heirloom, you would meet the same obstacles as I would if you wanted to immigrate to Israel under their understanding of what defines a Jew.

The star of David has been a relic in many cultures because it is the symbol of the original nation of Israel. Knowledgable Christians cherish it just as much as modern day peoples of the tribe of Judah.

I could argue I am an Israelite because my ancestors were Anglo-Saxons(Isaac sons) but still, modern Israel would argue I am not.

It is possible your are Jewish but you could never prove it.

As mentioned before during and after the spanish inquisition there were many jewish families that converted to christianity but continued to practice judaism in secret. In hebrew they were known as a (pronounced as in up)-noos-im which means the forced ones. Over the years the jewish practices fell by the wayside due to the lack of freedom to practice and the lack of schooling and community environment and only a few remembrances remained such as not lighting candles on saturday or not eating bread around easter (due to roughly coinciding with the jewish passover) that may be the source investigate what your parents and grandparents surnames come from it might be a good source of information

You may be a descendant of a Jewish family. When the Jews were given a choice of either converting to Catholicism or leaving Spain. Lots of Jewish people "converted"but did not practice the Cathloc faith. Some converts did, and you and the young lady may have descended from such a family.

Um may I suggest you read both the Old and New Testaments?
Jesus is descended from David. The star of David is what you were given. The geneology of Jesus, tracing back to David, is in the Gospels.

I would hope that Christians know the Gospels-Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Why don't you do some research into your genealogy. It may turn up that you have some Jewish ancestry. Otherwise, it could be in rembrance of the holocaust...the best bet is to ask your mom and grandmother.

If your mom has Jewish genes (and she got them from her mother, and her mother got them from her mother, and so on...), then you are considered Jewish under halacha (Jewish law). Without any more information, I have no way of knowing whether or not you have Jewish background. Keep in mind that if your father has Jewish genes, you have a Jewish background, but would not be considered Jewish in terms of the Jewish faith.

That would be my guess...being you both were given the star from Grandparents I would say you have some Jewish history

Suppose Ahmadinejad has jewish origins. So what? Is he anti-semitic? As far as I know he it anti-zionist and against israel. I can give you a list of jews who are against zionism and israel's brutality. And as far as i know there is no space between ahmadi & nejad. Are you doing it intentionally?

Do you look Jewish?

Anyone born of God through faith in Jesus Christ are part of the family of God, & Jewish is part of that.

Maybe your grandmother was given it by a dear friend, and thought it would bring you luck.
