beliefs are just that. BELIEFS.
if someone believes something that makes them feel good/complete, then who are we to put them down for it?
i don't care if you worship God. i don't care if you worship nobody. i don't care if you worship a yellow-spotted venezualean tree frog. if it makes you happy, i'm not going to copy and paste some 1-million world article telling you that venezualean tree frogs are false creatures.
what's the point? it is not a competition or anything. just let people live, and butt out of their lives. do you agree?

just curious - you make a great point! this is why i think we should all express our beliefs in a respectable, non-threatening manner

double C - you also make a great point. i hope you didn't misinterpret what i was trying to say. there's a fine line between good-natured debating and being flat-out rude and disrespectful

I agree with you whole heartedly. Just as long as nothing is hurting me, I am a-ok. I mean if you want to worship your yellow-spotted venequalean tree frog all day long, just as long as the tree frog doesn't spit on me, or give me warts (lol?) I am completely cool, and may ask to join in. Also what gets me is why everyone rags on homosexuals, I am not homosexual, but I feel if they want to be married, why the heck not? If it will make them happy to do so, I don't see why anyone should be denied the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". Since when is it constitutional to deny anyone the right to be married? Anywho, I am ranting off the subject, but my main point is, if it makes you happy and it doesn't HARM anyone..why not?

I try not to put people down. But look at it this way, if you had an obese friend whose is happy eating food all the time, but you know that that person may die if there isn't any intervention, would you just let that person be happy and not try to help? Or would you just mind your own business?
It is a bad analogy but its sorta like that. I want everyone to be in the family of God and I am compelled to give the gospel.

yes This is the sign of the age called Kali (the age of quarrel and hypocrisy) the iron age. People will argue over the most petty things and especially religious beliefs. It is a pity. We should just try to enlighten other who inquire for the truth. If we are certain we know the truth.

That is a great philosophy unless the people you disagree with have the power to make laws. I have seen the Christian majority in this country, the state I live in and my home town try time and again to pass their beliefs into laws, succeeding as much as they fail. The only recourse I have is to try and prove to them why I disagree. I refuse to let it get so bad that this country becomes a Theocracy.

Fa shizzle! You hit that nail on the head. That's just how people are, get used to it. Some folks have to be Right, no matter what. They can't stand the idea of being Wrong, so they will defend their beliefs and attack other beleifs. It's part of primate nature, or something.

Some people have no "real" purpose in life, other than to be the a***oles of the earth. After much time on this planet, you will learn this truth. Sometimes the best thing you can do, is to just let them rant on with their mindless dribble.

There is more excitement in throwing dirt to one another than praising each one that they do not really mean. It is probably human nature to ignore the right thing to do. This show how insecure the man of the world is.

I agree for the most part. However, when certain people insist that I believe as they do, I do ask questions. If asking questions translates to proving each other wrong, I am sorry. I view it as a discussion of the lack of evidence.
If people preach at me, I am free to question. If people threaten me with hell if I do not believe as they do, I am free to question.
I support everyone's freedom to believe and disbelieve as they choose. I do not support everyone's freedom to proselytize with impunity.

Because people want to think that they are the one's who have it right.
I can speak as a Christian when I say that I want to be the best I can be at describing Christianity. I intend to be used by God to help with the harvest. I want that, and I hope that God wants that for me. I believe that it's working.

um ... right but if folks didn't question Religion and Spirituality this section of Y/A would be empty of activity.
funny thing about questioning people's Religion and Spirituality ... it sometimes pisses them off and so the angst gets stirred and so on. in other words ... i think contention just comes with the Religion and Spirituality territory.
same in the Politics section.
