A misnomer.
The US is more a "religious" nation than a Christian nation.
The two are NOT the same.
The understanding or misunderstanding of the two explains the why of your question.

95% Christian, that's hilarious. If by Christian they mean they go to church twice a year and don't identify with any other major religion, than yes 95% of the population would be considered Christian. This nation is Christian in name only, very few actually live a life modeled after Jesus. We do lead the world in every sin imaginable. If I looked at America as representation of what Christianity is, I would think it was a joke.

Well pure rationality (and gross generalizations) would say that Christians love to commit crimes and get girls pregnant.
But no, I'm afraid the real answer is much different. You could take all the green eyed, left handed, red headed atheists in the country and they'd be enough to put us on top in those categories as well.
Careful what you do with statistics, they can be very misleading.

Hmmm. It wasn't always this way. I wonder if kicking God and prayer and discipline out of our schools had anything to do with it? I think that it did. I also think that the ACLU forcing society to skew it's values in order to fit a few eccentric members with divergent religous beliefs also had a lot to do with our degeneration as a nation.

It's because of the way they interpret Christianity in the U.S. Basically, they say committing crime and sin don't matter as long as you play your get out of hell free card (Jesus) as your last hand. They actually encourage those things by minimizing there significance to salvation.

One of the evidences of freedom, I'd say. Just because we enjoy freedom here, doesn't mean that we make the right choices.

There are lots of different reasons. It's not only because Christians ignore the realities of life and believe that our normal sexual desires are somehow 'sinful'.

When one man has an imagianary friend, he's called crazy. When many people have the same imaginary friend it's called religion.
