I believe in God and that Jesus is my Savior, so I pray. It's like talking to someone you love and trust, to me that is what prayer is. It is about my personal relationship with God.

We pray to God because it is the supreme form of energy omnipresent and omnipotent. When you pray you tune your energy in sync with a higher one and physics says that the enrgy flows from a higher energy state to a lower energy state to establish an equillibrium. When you pray to god its an attempt to balance out the energy difference you may have and which is absolutely needed in order to complete what you have started. Its a very personal thing and the desire varies frm person to person. However again different people have different energy levels and also different awareness about self. Now why we as indian do it, Well we have been known to be humble and polite race who maintains the status quo in form of our parents , teachers, gods, and seeking guidance from all these have been a formula of success from a long time and we continue the tradition because its in our value system. faith, trust love, devotion are all relative issues and do not need a reason or a logic its just a question of energy flow and synchronization of the same. If it matches you are on and you love and you pray and you trust if it doesn't then you don't. To understand more on energy states and its impact on human behaviour please go through the basics of physics which will help you understand the theory of entropy and prayer is a method to counter the disorder in the system. all systems want to attain a state of eqillibrium and human being are no different. Its a universal condition. if you need to understand more on this feel free to mail me at sharman_sameep@yahoo.com

Well first of all not all Indians pray to God and a matter of fact there are other nationalities and religions that pray to something or someone other than God. Some people it is their heritage that is passed down from generation to generation.
Other people have an amazing believe in God and simply want to thank and praise Him for what He has done for them. And they just want to life according to His word and spread his love to make this a better world to live in.
Is there really a God? Some people will tell you yes others will tell you it was someones imagination that lasted for generations.
But how do you account for miracles that happen every day? A child is cured of cancer when all hope was lost. What about all those people who survived wrecks who should of been dead. Or how about when a person is so down and out and ready to give up and keeps their faith in God and gets that job, or someone out of the blue for no reason helps them out of a tight spot and ask for nothing in return. I could go on and on, but that gets away from your question.
What may seem as logical to one person is totally illogical to another person. That is because people who believe in God have faith and trust in His love. Where others say if there is no proof of God then there is no God.
Hope this answered your question

Why do people not pray? I think the reason some of us pray is because we do have a real relationship with the Lord. Prayer is conversation with God. Plain and simple! It is our way to converse with the one who created our souls.
Prayer is a very effective tool as well. Why? Because through prayer, for a believer, many blessings flow...

People pray to God because of their own faith, or traditions, or just for a good luck charm. But the fact is that before starting any job, we gotta refresh and re-awaken our conscience. We gotta remind ourselves, that we would be honest with our jobs, hurt nobody, cheat nobody, work hard, etc. Praying God is a way of reminding ourselves of few moral codes.
I think that helps.
All the best...

Praying God is in a way accepting the existence of a supreme being, who probably can help us. We know the limitations of our parents and kins, since they are also beggars as we ourselves are.
God is a reality and He expects us to understand, that the physical pleasures that we are feeling are only temporary. Howsoever wealthy and powerful a man may be, he has to succumb to the nature's law one day. And even while living he has to face the different kinds of mental and physical troubles.
God wants us to understand Him spiritually, to attain eternal and infinite happiness. Our going to temples etc. is only for requesting God to help us in fulfilling our materialistic desires. God only laughs on our ignorance. A materialistic wish sometimes get fulfilled, because of the fate, and God's role in it is only limited to the fate/destiny, which He wrote based on our past karmas. He doesn't change the fate once written, even for a person like Abhimanu, who was destined to die in the manner he did.
So God expects us to follow the spiritual religion, and understand the preciousness of this human body.

Tiku, for me it helps make life bearable and enduring. Personally, it is the only way I have found to remain living. Otherwise, life would have no meaning for me and I would jump off a cliff or something. And it would be me jumping off, not because God did not help me, but because I have faith, that I am on a learning path. And one that is complex and takes much time and effort. It for sure is not a hard science, but nonetheless, it works for me. Also, being good to others is my own choice, has nothing to do with God, yet, I think that is how I am to behave as to what my spiritual path has shown.....

I pray to God becuase of what I feel in my soul and my spirit. I know God is real and alive and He's awsome. I don't do it because anyone else does it I do it because I want to do it. Because I love God and I love Jesus. I pray to God not only before I start something new but I pray to God about absolutly everything!
