I am dating a Catholic and I grew up in a Methodist Church. My boyfriend is very knowledgeable in his faith where as I am not. I have been to Catholic services and other denominations services. I enjoy the more contemporary style in church. I enjoy contemporary music. My boyfriend grew up in a very traditional, formal, Catholic Church. He gets nervous when it comes to a contemporary style. He likes Catholicism and whishes to not change. I know I would be the one to be able to change religion more easily, but I just don't want to feel like I'm the only one trying to compromise. If I do change, I want it to be because I want to. Any suggestions?

13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

this tends to suggest that their are few people who will follow Jesus's path, but their are litterally millions who profess Jesus to be their savior. what is he saying?

After learning all the functions of religion as a purely social institution and other people's beliefs, how do you know that your religion is right or that there is even a God? Being in an environment where religion is incompatible with knowledge, is it even possible to get though it with your faith intact?

At school, are students allowed to say "bless you" after someone sneezes?
I once had a teacher who gave another student a detention for saying it.
Was that unfair?

I'm a person that has problems...But my question is why does God allow the evil demons to take control of me and cause me to do awful things..like attempt suicide, pyshically abuse my family members and have thoughts of hurting others at times? I pray that I can get better but it seems like the more I pray the more screwed up I get..why is God allowing these things to happen to me and why can't he stop it if people say God is more stronger than Satan?

Having read and studied both sides of the issue, and taken more than a few classes on the different subjects; I am curious to recieve public input from the real world as to your (Atheist) conclusion to no higher order or "God." If I can't prove "God" and you can't prove "no God," then how do you explain the origin and substance of your belief or life? It is a belief is it not? It is faith in nothing and is no different than say another's faith in something.....correct?

Am I correct to understand that to believe in nothing is to therefore conclude that I am nothing? Or, if I believe in something (anything) than I am projecting myself to be a part of that belief?

Help me out here because I have a number of great friends who share different beliefs (including Atheism), and we are all trying to define, if not substantiate the origins of these particular beliefs.

More importantly, where does one begin without having to ride on the coat-tails of another person's theory?

This is only possible because Christ shed his blood on the cross and has done away with the Old Covenant by being the perfect sacrifice for sins. Praise you Lord Jesus!

Heb.2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of
God should taste death for every man. 14 Forasmuch then as the children are
partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is,
the devil; 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took
on him the seed of Abraham.

In the past everything was explained by a God, or supernatural forces. Eventually science progressed to the point where we could say things like (for example) "Oh, lightning? No, that's not a god, that's just electricity." etc. Suddenly it was easily explainable. But couldn't the energies that influence the weather (i.e. heat) be considered a god since it's the governing force of said phenomenon? I guess my main point would be: If/when science progresses to the point where we can try and comprehend God would we still recognize him/her/it as God?

Being a pagan and believeing in many god-like beings as well as a one true God my beliefs can get rather complicated (especially on this issue), so please specify your religion so that I know what perspective you're looking at it from.

Once again, the main question here is: If/when science progresses to the point where we can try and comprehend God would we still recognize him/her/it as God?
