Mormons don't assign a title of "saint" to a specific individual (not like the Catholic Church) - every member's a "Saint" (hense the formal name of the Church - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; members are referred to as Latter-Day Saints, or LDS for short).

And while we don't "confess" that Joseph was a prophet (to me, "confess" in a religious context means you're acknowledging you've sinned), we do acknolwedge that he was a prophet, and ask anyone who joins to do the same. After all, the basis for the religion is saying that Joseph was indeed a true prophet (he received revelation from God telling him that none of the churches at the time were true, and divine intructions were provided to tell him how to restore God's true church to the Earth). And if someone isn't going to acknowledge that, well, then one has to wonder why that person would joint the Mormon Church in the first place (since they don't believe that the person so often accredited with founding it was a true prophet).

Crazy, ain't it, I talked to a native American out on the Reservation and he said that the Mormons taught him that Christians came over here from England with a Christian Bible in one hand and a gun in the other hand, and told everybody to believe their way, or they would kill them. There is going to be a rude awaking one day for some people.

I don't know that you have to "confess" that Joseph
Smith as prophet. But, you do have to accept that he was a prophet. But then, you have to accept that men who wrte the Bible were prophets and apostles, too.
