Alexander;
"And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand " Daniel 8:25 King James Version.
I interpret that verse to mean that he will advocate and practice the occult (craft). He will, as the devil and man has always done, seek to place his throne above God (magnify himself). He will rise to power as a charismatic man seducing multitudes and if possible, the very elect, negotiating peace (most likely in the Middle East) but not long into his time he will bring terrible war (by peace he will destroy many). He hates God (he will stand against the Prince of princes). And his end will be supernatural (he shall be broken without the hand of man)
When you read the entire book of Daniel, I think you get a sense that the beasts and powers of Daniel's day and of ours are one and the same, that the same Prince of Persia that resisted Michael still sits awaiting his hour. I think that THE Antichrist, like all the Antichrists who have come before him, is a living breathing person possessed by the spirit of hell.
I hope this was helpfull

That isn't in the Bible so I don't know where you are getting that from. Perhaps you are referring to something out of the Book of Revelation where it seems like the anti-Christ will be a world ruler with a false religious system and where people will have to take the mark of the beast in order to buy and sell. If that's the case then what they are talking about is the first 3 & 1/2 years of the final 7 years before Jesus comes again when the anti-Christ will deceive the world by seeming like he is the Savior sent from God and for a time there will be peace.

The "peace" that the Antichrist will proclaim will be based on a lie, the false "gospel" that he will be preaching. The article at the first link below shows the chronology of events during the Tribulation and the Antichrist's ultimate destiny in the lake of fire.

In term of the Antichrist, i believe that scripture is refering to an actual person rather than a religion or symbol as a whole. More importantly, i think the scripture is simply emphasizing how deceptive this person will be.

Does the 'war on terrorism' to 'make the world safe for democracy' and establish a 'peaceful' government into Iraq ring a bell? People are already dying in the name of 'peace'. 'nuff said.

The anti-Christ, being the ego, will cause the downfall of many individuals, who, being deceived by this same ego, will think they are at peace.

I don't know exactly what that means but remeber this :The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I'm agnostic but that doesn't mean I'm bible illiterate.
You lost me on the heathen gods part. If there is a god he is a universal god. He is the god of nature. You can't prove the existence of your god more than I can prove the existence of Ganesh.

It is a false peace and a false religion that will lead many astray.
