13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

this tends to suggest that their are few people who will follow Jesus's path, but their are litterally millions who profess Jesus to be their savior. what is he saying?

In this passage i believe he is tryin to say that the gate to salvation is a narrow and difficult path but at the end it leads to eternal life with the Lord and this only comes by accepting and recieving Jesus as your Lord and Savior and by going about his word and ackowledging the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as the trinity (God). And the wide gate and the broad path is the path the rest of the people take because they know bout him but do not recieve him and they think they will be saved from hell by knowing about him but not haveing a fellowship, communication with him and he says that the path leads to destruction(hell).

Jesus does not want a bunch of people going around being "religious". What He wants is people to put their complete trust in him and accept him as saviour and redemption for their sins. Jesus is the rock, the one and only true foundation that doesn't waver or collapse when the winds of religion and the waves of popular opinion rage. Anyone can put on a false cloak of religiousness and anyone can say all the right words. But to believe Jesus and to pay attention to and do God's will -- not just anyone can do that. It takes a major committment, built upon salvation and relationship through Jesus, the rock, to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Your reading from Matt. 7:13-14 Also read Luke 13:24. Jesus calls His church a "little flock" Luke 12:32. Most who say they know Christ are deceived. Revelation 12:9. This is a very deep subject & there's so much that could be said. A true christian is one who is trying to be like Christ, one who follows in His steps. To do this you must read & study the bible, & if you have read faith you'll do what is says. And that faith comes from God! If you say your an alcholic yet you never drink alcohol, then your not one. That's the way it is with being a christian. Most treat God as someone that they worship the way they want to, instead of the way He says to. Thus making themselves over God. If you want to know what to read so you'll better understand then email me & let me know & I'll give you a website where you can get all the answers!

There is a big difference between those who take Jesus's narrow path and the millions who profess to be followers! Only those who accept God's free gift of salvation described in Romans 6:23(For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.) It's as easy as repenting (asking forgiveness for and turning from) your sins (anything you say do or think that displeases God) and having faith that God will save you (Acts 16:31- Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved). Many people think that if they try hard enough to follow the ten commandments that they will make it to heaven, but their research is completely lacking!! No one can be good enough to make it to heaven on their own(Romans 3:10- There is none righteous(perfect), no not one.). There had to be a payment for all the things we did wrong and that was Christ dieing on the cross(John 3:16-For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.) Only those who trust Christ as their savior are going to make it through the narrow gate and everyone else is sadly on their way to hell.

It means that few will enter the kingdom of heaven because few Christians will live the true life of a Christian.Many will enter the wide gate of destruction as there are many who do not live by Christ's teachings.Before the quote you wrote it says not every man that says Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of heaven but those that doeth the will of my father who is in heaven.

The narrow gate are the ones who believe in Jesus and receive his HOLY SPIRIT, and the wide gate that leads to destruction is the rest of the masses in the world who will not receive Christ and his Holy spirit, read this page and make sure you get the narrow road that leads to life, eternal life!;

I believe that many church-goers think they are saved simply because of a confession of faith they made some time ago. But the narrow way to life is under our feet when we actually live for Jesus, when we struggle against the flesh, seeking the life that He has to give to those who lay down their lives for Him. Destruction is not necessarily hell, but the destruction of the life that could have been had they walked closely with Jesus.

I believe it means the path you must walk or the life you must live to get to heaven is going to be harder to follow than the broad path, you will face many hardships that you wouldn't encounter on the broad path. Many know what awaits for those who successfully walk down the narrow path, they know that it is well worth it.

There are millions or even billions people who claim that they are the followers of Jesus, but only a few of them would receive salvation because not everyone who says to Jesus, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of the Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Jesus on Judgement day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then Jesus will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

I'm pretty sure that only a few (of millions of christians) who will succesfully enter the Kingdom of Heaven, based on Mat 7:14

Some who profess Jesus as their Savior only do so for the money/rewards and not for Love of Christ.
