What happens to us when we die?

Where does our consciousness/spirit (or whatever you believe) go?

What is stopping you from doing stupid/wrongful things (sex with whoever, drunkinest, etc.)?

Were you ever religious?
If so, why are you not anymore? (Saying "education" is not a real answer because education is defined as: the act or process of imparting or acquiring particular knowledge or skills, as for a profession)

(I'm not making fun of anyone or being a smart one, I just want to know what you think)

I read the scriptures and it said that God created me. But, in my biology class the teacher said that my mom and dad slept together and I was in her womb for 9 months and then I was born.

So according to the scriptures, God created me, but the teacher said my mom and dad created me, which one is true?

....the funny thing is the different set of answers I'll receive if I would've change the subject from pregnancy to evolution. *smirks*

I want to have more faith in my life... how do I do that? Can people just show up to church on Sunday or do they have to be invited? I accepted God into my life when I was 8 and went to church until I was about 14 and I'm now 18 and I've been pretty sinful and I want to have a better life. How do I do this?

my best friend is a mormon, and he's been one his entire life. he's the nicest, most genuine person i know. he doesn't drink, smoke, get in fights or anything like that. his family is always willing to help people out. and i realize that his family's beliefs are different compared to others, but why do people feel it is necessary to look down on him and his family??

the other day, he and i got into a discussion with someone we both know from school, and this guy started telling him how he wasn't going to heaven and how he was a brainwashed moron for what he believes.

do you know what my friend's response was?

"you have your beliefs and i have mine"

and to tell you the truth, that's exactly the way i expected him to react. because that's how he was brought up. i see all the time mormons getting ridiculed on TV and the internet, etc, but is it christian-like behavior to bash followers of another faith like this?

i think not. it's ridiculous.

mormons are nice people.

He is part of the reason I left. He always put me down and made me feel bad about myself. When I first starting attending that church I was feeling uncomfortable around the people there (because I'm shy and also am on meds for social anxiety disorder) and he told me it was probably because I was jealous of them! He also lied to my mom about me and tried to get ME to stop talking to her and the rest of my family and friends not in that particular church. He also said if a woman is raped that it is partly her fault. I just wish there was some actions I could take against him.

Oh yeah, and he found out I was on Yahoo answers and took me in and gave me this whole" you're caught" speech.

--THIS QUESTION IS GENERALLY FOR THEIST ONLY--
if God have these attributes >>>> sinless, omnibenevolent, perfect, do all positive things, and above all ability to LOVE others, then tell me why didn't God gave each one of us with this flawless attributes. How could giving this 'God attributes' be a bad idea if God himself have all these? His selfishness to be the only one to be perfect (sinless) is the reason why humans are imperfects (sinful). It really doesn't matter if God have/doesn’t have free will, he keeps blaming us for all the bad things that have existed, if only he gave us all of his attributes then there would be no need for sins, hell, and doubts about his own existence!

Note:
Free-will >> could love or not love.
God's attributes >> could love AND do all 'good' things

Plus another thing, if doing nothing but good is the alternative to free will, I'll take it.

Ok..I was raised a strict Catholic(I started to goof up when i turned 14). As a Catholic, I did some really bad things, like had sex before marriage, was pregnant when I got married......and so on. Here's the thing, I believe in Heaven, and I hope I am going there some day...GOD is ALL FORGIVIING right? So I did these things later in life(20-21), so when I was young what did I do so bad that made GOD punish me the way he did.....I was sexually, physically, and verbally abused by my father as little as 5(the earliest I can remember). No these are not repressed memories...they are real just like they happened yesterday. So...what did a 5 year old girl do SOOOO BAD that this had to happen to her. Not only that, but I also lost my mom when she was 46 to Cancer, then I was in an auto accident that left me disabled and unable to stand for any longer than 10min, or sit any longer than 30min, and I am no longer able to walk over 150ft at a time!? Am I just being a baby?? If so tell me...

Or try to deny me my beliefs by telling me they are wrong? I get this from several different types of people- Christians, Atheists, Muslims, etc.

I believe in animism. I think everything is part of a larger soul .I think rocks have an essance of spirit. I think different animals are spiritual in their own ways. I believe in being connected with Nature.

Christians tell me I am going to Hell unless I give up my pagan ways for their ways.

Atheists tell me I am delusional for believing in any metaphysics(although I can't see how I'm hurting anybody. I'm a pro-freedom Libertarian who would never force my beliefs on anyone, and I study and accept evolution and the Big Bang theory).

Muslims pretty much tell me the same thing the Christians do.

What's up with that? Why do you guys hate on my beliefs? And it's certainly just not me, but I wanted to make an example.

I don't give a flying **** what your religion or lack of says. There is no way to justify this.

When atheists assault "the Bible" - they are not aware it is a compendium - they focus almost entirely on what they and Christians know as the Old Testament. As I understand it,these texts are deemed sacred by all practicing Jews. So: do Jews take the view that attacks on their scripture - crude and insulting - are not actually attacks as long as they are presented as as attacks on Christianity,or do they genuinely not find it offensive to make such attacks? If I were Jewish,I'd be offended; I'd call it religious bigotry - which it is. Let me put it this way: do Jews view attacks on Hebrew scripture as anti-Semitic,or don't they? Any Jewish people out there tonight?

For me, it's my navel. It connects me to all those who lived before me - all the way back 3.5 billion years. That's pretty powerful, don't you think? Oops, better clean out the lint.
