You cannot say that god created a choice between good and evil, but didn't create evil. That's just silly.
In the Garden of Eden myth, who created the tree of knowledge of good and evil? God did.
I know there are a million contradictions in christianity, as in all religions, but this one really bugs me because people try so hard to pretend it's not there.

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
>Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
>Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
>Had no army, yet kings feared Him.
>He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
>He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
>He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.

PRAISE HIM!!!!

There once was a priest whose only vice was that he loved to play golf. One warm Good Friday he decided to sneak in a round before Stations (this can also be a Rabbi/Yom Kippur joke). St. Peter sees him and decides to alert The Boss.

"Excuse me Sir" Peter said to God.

"What is it Peter?" asked God.

"We have a small problem on earth, Father O'Riordan is playing golf. He is a devout priest and dedicated servant to his parish, but it is Good Friday" responded Peter.

"I will see to it" says God.

The priest then steps to the next tee and crushes his drive. It flies straight down the middle of the fairway, rolls onto the green and into the cup for a hole-in-one!

Peter cannot believe his eyes. He turns to God and says "I realize you are the Father, the Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth, all that is seen and unseen. Forgive me for doubting your wisdom, but I thought you would punish him instead of rewarding him with a hole-in-one!

God simply says "Who can he tell?

I know its all about evolution, but really, cant they acknowledge they existed with so much proof?

OK, I know I am going to upset some people here, but I am a Catholic, and I am very strong in my beliefs. However, I come on here everyday, and everyday I question my religion, and every time I question my religion I end up believing in it more and more.

Anyway, I am a logical thinker by nature, so it upsets me when people say they are 100% sure about the existence or non-existence of God. First of all, the idea that one person is 100% sure there is a God and one is 100% sure there is not is a logical impossibility.

And as a Catholic, I am NOT 100% sure there is a God. I may be 99% sure there is a God, but if I was 100% sure there was a God, there would be no need for faith or religion. God may not want us to be 100% sure of His existence, because then we would not need to have faith in Him.

In fact, it could be said that questioning His existence could be good for you, because it constantly makes you question and re-affirm your beliefs.

And for Atheists, you should be ashamed. You guys promote logical thinking, and then say something as stupid as “I am 100% sure there is no God”. Logically, there could be a God who hasn’t done ANYTHING except touch the first atom to start the Big Bang, and every religion on Earth would be wrong, including you.

Am I correct? Isn’t everybody at least 1% agnostic?

The lack of proof never means that God doesn't exist, how do you know that evolution isn't God's ultimate Plan?

But he created mankind in a special way.

We can sense the effects of Gravity, but Gravitons are not matter (at least i think not).

Free thinkers and/or open minded people only.

It says otherwise in other religious text, does that mean they are right too? Then if all are right, who is wrong?

Every holiday is mired in religion/tradition, how does one celebrate when young children are involved without filling their heads with myths and lore.

When Jill Carroll was released in Iraq they gave her a gift of a gold chain and when the British were released from Iran today they were given new suits and a gift bag. This is rather bizarre behavior to us in the West. Is this a cultural or religious tradition of the mideast?

I have read all sorts of answers about the Bible and would like to know where those of you especially who don't believe go to get your information. I pretty much know where Christians go but where do non believers get their information and why do you believe what you read?

I just asked a question about who should forgive you if you would hurt me, Jesus or me? I received the next answer, that I actually mostly agree with:

"Why does anyone forgive?
It is a misconception that it is for the one being forgiven. Rather it is my understanding that it is for the person doing the forgiving. It MIGHT affect the person being forgiven, but it is made to benefit the person forgiving. Without forgiving, the person doing the forgiving woiuld carry around the resentment of the offense.
I just thought that I would tell you that. You didn't seem to know it.
We already know that Jesus forgives. But you might also forgive so that you wont become bitter"

So, does that work for Jesus in the same way? If He wouldn't forgive, He'd become bitter?

Is it the license?
Is it the minister?

Or

Is it a commitment by the man & woman before God with or without the piece of paper making it 'legal'?

I am a minister....and the law says that I cannot marry anyone without first seeing the license and signing it in the presence of the couple and a witness.

But what do you think? What does God think?

Is He more concerned with legalities or with commitment to one another and to Him?

How do you cope with thoughts of death? I am 24 years old and I have never been so aware of the feeling that I will die one day since after I had abdominal surgery to remove a pancreatic cyst 6 months ago. I am now constantly thinking about death and about how and when will it be for me and about how I am going to cope if somebody in my family or a friend is suddenly taken away from me. I don't want to be thinking about this all the time but I can't help it. I know death is certain and that no one can escape from it but how do you think I should look at it so I am not as scared and worried about it all the time?

Wel I don't have any kids (yet). But i was laying down thinking about things, and my mind wondered off onto the subject of the future, and this scenario drifted into my mind.. Say I have a kid, we'll say son.. now.. I do not believe in God, as i'm a proud Atheist, But should i inform him right away (as soon as he's able to understand) that there IS no God, or do i wait until he's older? I feel like telling him as soon as he's got a working mind is no better than Xtian brainwashing. But then if i don't, he may be susceptible to said Xtian 'brainwashing' from other adults of peers. Being a young child i remember how easily you believe the firs thing you're told. Or i could completely negate the subject until he asks me about it?

Let's say one day, he is sitting in the livingroom and brings up something about what 'god' has done for us. Do i then explain there is no god? I mean, i would love for him to not live ANY of his life with that dangerous delusion. But then what about santa?
