"Why do Christians always". . . do not generalize that is what is ignorant . . . not someone'e religions or spiritual beliefs.

You have never asked me nor have I ever answered your question so you can not say, "why do Christians always."

To answer your question I would not say because the Bible tells me so. But, some would because that is their belief , their religion to believe the Bible as true.

My answer would be because I have felt Him in my life, I have seen him move in my life, I have felt His comfort and His peace, I have heard Him talk to me. . .not in some loud thundering voice coming down from the sky, but in the stillness of my heart. For me He is real . . .For me I know because of my faith. I don't expect you to believe the same way I do and I certainly do not expect you to understand. . .until you want to know Him for yourself and until He becomes just some joke to you that you ridicule you will never understand and that is your right.

The question really boils down to is; what evidence would you find acceptable? Are you looking for a label on cells that say, "Made by the hand of God"? Do you need an address to send God a letter?

The Bible is what we would call the specific revelation of God. It tells us about God. This should be the first thing a Christian should use for the justification of their faith. It is what explains God's character and plan (especially Jesus and his sacrifice for our redemption).

We could then go to what is called general revelation. Look at the universe and nature around you. I look and I see the amazing intricacies of how the universe exists and functions, the miracles of life and its interdependency and then we are to be expected to think that it is a consequence of a series of cosmic accidents?
Who would possibly believe that the Mona Lisa could have been painted by a blind painter, who never having seen a human face, created it by randomly tossing paint onto a canvas? Yet we are to believe it was the random acts of science that created this far more intricate universe. If someone tried to tell you the Empire State Building was a natural phenomenon, created by the upheaval of the earth's crust and the erosion of wind and water, there would be few people who would not laugh. Yet, we are told to believe that the human body, far more complicated and amazing, was an occurrence of happenstance. BTW science is not a creative force. Science does not 'do' anything. It only allows us to try to explain things.

Then we finally get to personal revelation. How do I experience God in my life and those around me? Would you be swayed by my faith, would you be swayed by the 'miracles' I have seen the prayers that have been answered and the lives that have been changed?

So again what evidence would you find acceptable?

Why do you generalize all Christians together? All of Creation testifies to God's handiwork. Do you know that planet Earth is so positioned in the universe that we can see the stars & the moon etc.. A few degrees off & all we would see is blackness.Who placed the Earth at this position for us to admire the vastness of the universe.

If you found a computer in the forest all alone, would you doubt someone made the computer , how would you know? Did you meet the designer,is he anywhere around?
Why then do you doubt the Designer of the universe, is God? You see His creation you can reach out & touch, smell, hear & taste that the Lord is Good. You can have a personal relationship with a God that cares for you. He cares for His creations.
You can see ink on a paper that spells out words, but not know or see the author, but it doesn't change the fact that there is ink on the paper & they spell out words, that you may or may not understand.

To elaborate on that answer,
Prophecy in the bible that has been fulfilled to date has been 100% accurate. The bible says of itself that it is "God-breathed".

In other words God says in the bible that He is the one who inspired the writers. These things are supernatural because God is supernatural. We being mere humans are not going to grasp everything that God knows, we can see the evidence of His work though. One of those evidences is the bible and the prophecy it contains.

The 66 books of the bible were written over a time period of 1400 to 1800 years by more than 40 authors from various walks of life. "All scripture is inspired by God" 2 Timothy 3:16

Men, "moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Peter 1:21
The Greek word for inspired is "God- breathed".

Believing in the bible is a matter of informed faith. You either believe what the Word of God says about itself or you don't. You either believe the testimony of Jesus Christ regarding the Word of God or you don't.

However there is a abundance of external evidence that supports the Bible's infallibility. When the Bible speaks on matters of history or science, it speaks accurately.

Archaeological evidence has affirmed the historicity of the bible in many ways.

The Bible is God's Word, so down playing the answers you have gotten that God exsits "because the bible says so", is an error on your part.

If you want an answer to your question - start reading and studying the bible. If at that time you are not satisfied that God exsists, then you have chosen to disregard His Word the Bible.

It takes something called "faith". Every human has a "hole" in their heart, we all try "filling" it with something. That something can be material goods, which will never "fill" that void, because you always want more and more. When you realize that your missing something, and come to the understanding that it is God your missing, and give your life over to Jesus, that void becomes filled. I have had many occasions in my life, things that have happened, for there not to be a God.

It takes more faith to believe that there isn't a God. We have historical writings both secular and non-secular (bible) that witnessed what Jesus did. At the time of Jesus, people who did not believe even at the time still wrote of Him and His miracles. You can go through the Old Testament and there are prophecies that were written hundreds of years before they happened. And yes, they really were written before they happened.

Like I said, it takes more faith to NOT believe than you think.

Acutally in the bible God says to prove him in your life. Malachi 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. Basically if you give somethign of value to someoen who has nothign or a church or someplace where you know they are doing the work of God..he will bless you in a way you never seen before..that is how you prove him.. I proved him in my life! If he does not answer you then you can say its a hoax but if he does then you have no way of not believing..not a bad test all things considered..but try it..it does work!

Just look around you. Man could have never have made the miracles around you. Look at the miracle of child birth if man had done that we would all have two headed babies or something. You can see God's hand in everything you look at or see or feel. The last breath you took was from God. Just ask Him to let you know He exists and He will.

when my daughter asked me why i believe in God this was my reply:

if you were walking in a forest and came upon a house, would you ever in your mind doubt that someone made it?

would you ever assume that it got there by itself?

of course not.

it has a design and purpose.

one small cell in our bodies is far more complicated than the largest most complex buildings on this planet, so why would i ever doubt that this plant and our bodies werent also created and designed by someone?

so if we're created, then by who? the bible has been the only source of information that has PROVEN itself time and again to prophesy accurately what the truth is.

when man though the earthw as flat, the bible said that it was a sphere.

do some more research on the bible before you go bashing it as just another "book"

would you ever take seriously the book review from someone who never read the book? you'd say that person was speaking out of ignorance wouldnt you?

The only answer you wish to hear is that God does not exist. You will never hear that from a Christian, so this question is merely a ploy to stir up trouble and create arguments. If you do not believe that He exists, why should it matter if WE DO? Because you can see that we are happy, that we know something you do not....and you're going crazy trying to undo that. That will never happen my poor fellow, because our light comes from God...yes, the one whom you claim never existed.

Well... probably for the same reason that atheist can't answer me when I tell the to prove to me that God doesn't exist.

Asking me how I PERSONALLY know that God exists is far different then asking me to prove it to you.

Just as you can't prove to me that life started in a primordial pool of ooze. I can't prove to you that God is.

I can give you my reasons why I believe, but that is different and based on the tone of your question, you're the type of person who would discount my faith any way...so... why bother.

{edit} To my learned colleague below.... there are a vast number of secular resources that document Jesus' life on earth. You're wrong.
