As a Christian, I know that as long as people are asking questions...even if weird ones, that the thought of God is on their minds somewhere. Do we really want them to stop questioning our beliefs? I for one believe that gives the opportunity to all of us to plant the seed. Where is goes from there is up to them. Isn't that what we are called to do?

(I know the definition. I'm looking for opinions here.)

For example, are Jehovah's Witnesses considered fundamentalists? They don't believe that the earth is 6,000 years old or that the creative days were 24 hours each.

I've been looking in to their beliefs recently and it's raised a few questions in my mind.

if you sincerely ask god into your lives he will come, if you follow my advice in Matthews, god will give you what you want, so you should give other people what they want, and treat them as you would like to be treated.

not very many people unless they change and take the road less traveled, can attain enlightenment

watch out for believers who are insincere, they look o.k., they go to church and smile, but inwardly they still harbor jealousies, are greedy, and selfish, you can tell by the way they treat other people and conduct themselves. good people treat others well and conduct themselves according to the situation. insincere people will not attain enlightenment.

profressing jesus' name is not enough, you must do your best to follow the will of god, and follow my advice. many will wonder what happened," jesus, jesus, we called on you and professed your name, why did we not go to heaven?"
and i will tell them, you just did not understand.

You can't expect a real education in science, philosophy or history, so what does that leave? Math and spelling?

I know clichés are fun; I even make up some of my own and often enjoy injecting them into a conversation and watching the expression on the faces of people as the words rattle around in their puny brains and they try to work out if they’re being mocked or complimented. Christians love clichés! I read one the other day, the writer of which seemed immensely proud; “The Old Testament is New Testament concealed. The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed,”

To me this highlights an apparent growing trend of people who call themselves Christians and yet acknowledge that much of the bible should not be taken literally. They prefer to focus on the NT and Christ’s message of love, forgiveness and morality. Yet they instinctively know that to leave the OT completely unacknowledged is to weaken the core of their beliefs. Their solution; to make up these stupid clichés that make their fellows nod their heads like idiots and go, “Hmmmm.”

All my life my parents have raised me as a Catholic. In the past year or so I have looked deeply into what I truely believe. I now know that I am an Atheist. I do not believe there is a God. (However, I'm not extreme about that. I keep an open mind.) I still attend religious education and go to church with my family because I am afraid that my family will ostracize me and treat me differently (I know they would) if they knew my true beliefs. My friend's cousin, who is 11, is getting a cancerous tumor removed. I wanted to take her to the movies tomorrow to help cheer her up. Tomorrow is Good Friday in Catholicism. My mother got very angry when I asked and said that I should be embarrassed for wanting to socialize on the day that Christ died. This is what I'm talking about. I'm afraid they would say the only reason I think that is to get out of church and religious ed. and situations like the movies I just mentioned because I am fairly young. But I know what I believe. What should I do?

This question is not all that important...

However, it is interesting and perhaps worthy of consideration.

How do you think a person should dress for Church?

Should they wear what they wear on any other day? Should they dress up a bit? More formal?

Why should you dress any different?

I tend to think that God does not care how you dress for Church. But at the same time, presenting yourself well shows that you have a respect for the occasion. It shows that the event is important to you. I guess its a sign of reverence.

What do you think of this?

Chrisitianity=C
Science=S

How the world was created

C's answer: God Created it

S's answer: Big Bang

How did Humans come to be:

C's answer: God created

S's answer: evolved from monkeys.

But then if Science was right how come we cant use monkey blood or how come all the monkeys didnt change into humans. Simple, Humans and Monkeys come from a similar ancestor, kind of like how dogs and wolfs are cousins and if you go way back you can c that they were once the same animals. They evolved from the same animal 2 put it more simply.

How do we prove that God is actually there? Simple we cant, they say that you have to believe in him with faith but then there are alot of tragic stories off ppl dieing and they were cruelly murdered, why didnt god help them then? Also the Roman Catholic Church used to have Popes that (In the name of God) started stupid wars with other countries, the Pope used the name of God in many bad ways but God didnt do anything to the Pope.

Because they haven't yet. Not one single solitary shred of CREDIBLE evidence exists for creationism.
On the other hand, there are mountains of evidence (and that just keep growing day by day) that supports Evolution.
This article for example;
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070405/ap_on_sc/mini_mutts
Shows that creationism is not only a lie, but a childish one at that. If creation was true, DNA would not mutate, there would be no reason for it to do so.
Sorry creationists, I know that your explanation of "god did it" is simple and easy, but it's utterly incorrect.
Science doesn't deal with the supernatural like fairies and leprechauns, so don't try and explain the facts surrounding Evolution with your childish mythology.
Deal?

How do Christians account for..

-The accountability of God for all evil and misfortune in the world (If he is all-powerful, it should be in his ability to prevent a child from contracting cancer, for example)

-The co-existence of an omniscient God and free will.
(If God, as an all-knowing being, knows what we are going to do, that means that events were predestined, which means we can't be held accountable for our actions and can't be damned to hell for them)

-The diversity of ethnicities present on Earth, if we all came from the same 2 people just a few thousand years ago (not my estimate, many Christian creationist take this to be the age of the earth, derived from all of the generations and years mentioned in the bible)

-and where the hell does the story of Lucifer's rebellion/fall come from? I know Milton wrote a whole book on it, but is there any evidence of such a conflict in scripture?

this should spark some good debate...

many times I see people post something like " based on the evidence I've seen I came to the conclusion there is no God "

I take that as a valid statement. In my opinion it is a common post. So my question is how would you suggest going about getting started? ( i know it can't be a 30 minute dvd )

A recent answerer to one of my questions stated "Morality exists in all of us because of evolution."
I am curious to know what scientific process proves this statement? If you agree or disagree, can you please explain?
Thank you in advance for kind answers

Science has come so far with the incredible advances being made that confirm the validity and truth of the Bible and disprove the theory of evolution, but evoltionists continue to hang on to their misguided faith in this theory with no real proof. The proofs of the past, with current advances in science, had been proven to be false or fakes. When will they see the light and quit walking around in darkness and ignorance? We will just have to continue to pray for their eyes to be opened to the truth.

"Easter is a pagan celebration of spring. its highly doubtful God would want us to celebrate pagan holidays. why a Christian would celebrate a pagan holiday is beyond me"

Granted, Easter is more of a Pagan holiday than a Christian holiday, but what's the point of a Christian saying something like that?

Things that your guardians did when they were younger are not oftentimes discussed with their kids. Have any of you ever gone through something that you parents warned you not to do only to realize they did it themselves??(i.e sex outside of marriage, drugs, etc)
