The bible says at Genesis 3:19-"In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return".Which means that when we are buried we will go back to dust.Proverbs 16:25-"There exists a way that is upright before a man,but the ways of death are the end of it afterwards".Ecclesiastes 9:5 says"For the living are concious that they will die,but as for the dead they are concious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten".1Corinthians 15:21 says "For since death is through a man ressurection of the dead is also through a man" meaning that since people die they can be ressurected .

Let me assure you that the Bible teaches the life we live after we die will be real—just as real as this life, if not more so. We won't be in a state of dreamlike consciousness, but we will fully exist in body, mind and soul.
The pattern for this is Jesus Himself. When Jesus died on the cross and was laid in a tomb, His physical body was completely and absolutely dead. But He came back to life by the power of God—and when He did, He had a different type of body, without the limitations it once had. His resurrected body wasn't an illusion; it was a glorious and immortal body that was just as real as His earthly body had been.
And someday, if we know Christ, we too will be given new bodies—bodies like Christ's resurrected body. The Bible says, "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable" (1 Corinthians 15:42). Our bodies in heaven will be real, and so will our whole existence. Only in this way will we be able to serve God.
But the real question is this: Are you ready for that day? Do you know—really know—that if you were to die tonight, you would go to be with Christ in heaven forever? You can know, by confessing your sins and your need of Christ, and trusting Him alone for your salvation. Salvation is real—and it can be yours by putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ today.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

I once scorned every fearful thought of death
When it was both the end of pulse and breath
But now my eyes have seen that past the pain
There is a world thats waiting to be claimed
Earthmaker, Holy, let me now depart
For living's such a temporary art
And dying is but getting dressed for God
Our graves are mearly doorways cut in sod

Another one! This question gets asked about 3 times a week, but for those who want to see it again.....................
Death brings us to the grave (hell, common grave of mankind)
According to Jesus we sleep there until resurrected.
In resurrection we receive our life back as we left it but with whatever healing is needed to become vibrant again.
We will be instructed in God's ways and laws, and if we behave, and don't got bad when Satan temps us again, we get the opportunity to be judged good or not and have a shot at eternal life, with all it's goodness under our creator.
Who, by the way pitches his tent with mankind......Yea! It's all in your bible, now, go find it!

Biologically speaking, we don't go anywhere. We just don't think of feel anymore.
Of course, the many religions of the world have different opinions on where our souls go. Some believe that if you are good and follow your religion, you'll go to heaven, or paradise. Some believe that you are reincarnated, your soul is born again in another body.
No one knows for certain because there isn't any way to ask dead people where they are.

Your body goes to the funeral home. The Christian religion says if you were of God(saved) your spirit will go to heaven and some believe your spirit will sleep until Jesus returns.
