The concept of prophethood in Islaam is very different than the one in Christianity.
Prophets and messengers in Islaam, are normal people who are chosen specifically, by God, before theyre even born, to lead and warn mankind who has strayed from the path.
In a way, theyre not really normal at all. But theyre physically normal and spiritually divine.
Lets see why:
They not only prophesize, but they speak on behalf of God.
They are aided by Gods miracles and angels.
They are like children. Unable to sin. Egoless.
They are loved and preferred by God over all men.
They are destined for heaven and are truly the perfect men of mankind.
But they were still human, which is why a human is so important. Gods message can only reach humans if the messenger is fully human.
They work for God and are not to be worshipped the way we worship God.
So was Jesus a prophet, yes he was.

Yes absolutely he was. He is considered one of the most respected prophet and brought a great message to his people. He was sent by God (Allah in arabic) and prophesized the coming of Mohammad after him. It is acknowledged by all muslims that he cured the lepers and blind and gave life to the dead by the power of God. He was the son of the virgin Mary but not the son of God litterally as christians believe.

The bible says an angel of light will come and teach ANOTHER JESUS, another spirit of god and another gospel.. 2 Corinthians 11 -4...The above are issa, allah and koran all taught by the angel of light to mohamad.... verse 11 says this angel of light is satan..Forewarned is forearmed. The angel that announced jesus birth said jesus would be called son of god and immanuel which he said means GOD WITH US...someone lied..it was either the eyewitnesses of the bible or the unbeliever mohamad who lived 600 years later...take your pick..it determines where you will spend eternity.

I understand what you're asking its very complex for me to explain, but I will give you the short version so I can stop myself from writing a book to you... to get to the point you can go to the second half, sorry, didn't want to make it long
Many Messengers make men form many religions although the messengers teach the same thing
Muslims believe that throughout the ages, and from the dawn of rational mankind, God has send messengers to different peoples of humanity with the same Universal Message, "Worship One God and Obey him and do good
deeds to obtain a happy afterlife." With a brief study of the majority of the major religions of the world, you will find that their origin belief were monotheistic, (for an example Hinduism) and taught good deeds and obtaing rebirth/ or a happy afterlife. With further study, you may begin to notice that all the religions teach the same concept and coinside withone another. For example, Buddism, concentrates on the meditation aspect of sprituallity. Its concepts like the middle course, good deeds, sunning negative thoughts, and humility.., are all taught in Islam, Christianity, and Judiams.
Who named it?
When messengers came to various people, some of these peoples showed loyalities to these messengers and rejected or ignored any further ones, thus formulated religions. For instance Christianity is named after Christ Jesus (PBUH) in which they reject Muhammad, but not the prior Tribe Of Israel prophets, and Buddhism is named after Budduh . Did these messengers name these religions? No, usally post the era historians, observers, writers, scholars, etc. name these people's beliefs system to classify them. So when a person agrees with the belief system they adopt that clasification.
_____________________________________________
**** Getting to your Point
With that said, Judiasm is not a term used by the Old Testment, or by God to name the people who were slaves in Egypt and then were deliever by Moses and selected as the blood line or a series of prophets. They are called "Tribe of Israel". The same is for Christians, A pagan in the Bible first called a follower of Christ and a desceneded of the Tribe of Israel "Christian." God didn't name followers of Christ "Christian." Prophet Jesus (PBUH), a descendent of the Tribe of Israel, did not call himself Jewish. That term is post Jesus by a hundred of years.
What makes Islam so Special and who named it?
Islam is the final Holy Book send down to mankind (according to Islam). It sums up all the thousands of years of messengers to mankind. The Quran says, "We have send messengers to mankind, some we tell you of, some we don't." It calls on Muslims to embarce all the messengers known and respect them and learn from their leadership.
It confirms and reaffirms of pass revelations and calls on Muslims to believe in the Psalms of David, The Gospel of Jesus, the Torah, and all the pass revelations send to mankind.
But as not of other religions, God calls the universal message taught by the thousands of peophets send to various peoples Islam, or in English "Submission to God."
What special is not the name, but the action, a clear summary of the universal message. Worship one God.
Some religious have distorted the teachings of the prophets overtime, and some do not follow the text revelations reveal by their prophets anymore.
I said all that that to say, Jesus was not Jewish, that is a post term word. He was a descended of the tribe of Israel.
The Quran talks about the Tribe of Israel in its text and confirms the prior revelations. the Quran is the final testment took in by the Last prophet (Book) Muhammad, a descended of Abraham. The Quran says messengers (message) still come to warn people of God's wrath. Islam sums up and brings together the messengers of old, as a Last Testment,
it unifies the one religion, submission, that people have separated with their disagrements and arrogance, and need for clasifcation and groups.
Religions seem similar because they are the same thing!
Some have been distorted however.
I MADE IT LONG.... SORRY

Peace and Blessing Be Upon You
[2:136] Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him (GOD) alone we are submitters."
