As a Christian, I know that as long as people are asking questions...even if weird ones, that the thought of God is on their minds somewhere. Do we really want them to stop questioning our beliefs? I for one believe that gives the opportunity to all of us to plant the seed. Where is goes from there is up to them. Isn't that what we are called to do?

I agree although it does get a bit old to be called, "Stupid, controlling, mean, and crazy" day after day. But I guess that's a small inconvenience of sharing the gospel. I think our fellow Christians in other parts of the world are enduring a lot more than we American believers are and they keep on sharing the gospel. Whatever we face, it shouldn't be a stumbling block for evangelizing. I hope people will still continue to ask and talk about us. Perhaps some of them will hear the Lord's words speaking through our mouths!

I welcome questions. We should use scripture to back up what we say in our answers when we can. As far as the hateful ones go, I just try my best to ignore them, then I pray for them without their knowledge, sometimes they take it as an insult when we tell them that we will pray for them. Of course we know to pray for someone is a compliment they don't understand that and they think we are insulting them. And it is the people who make very mean remarks that need our prayers and no matter what they say I think their remarks are a cry for help. So sometimes the less said the best said. Just take it to the Lord instead.I do this a lot some days after paying this site a visit.

Actually, what I want, if anyone wishes to know, is for Christians to act with a bit of restraint. In my religion, what we do is to answer questions when asked; to teach when requested to do so, but to avoid boistrous acts; to act, in effect, much like Jesus said. He told people to pray in secret; to not preach to those who didn't wish to hear. You know that trait, right? It's called humility.

The prideful preaching on a soap-box on a street corner, or picking up a megaphone at a town fair, ro howling up and down the aisle of a subway were not his method.

So, if someone asks you something, by all means, answer. If you feel yourself in a position to teach, let others know so. What I find unsavory is the "Do You Know You're All Going To Hell If You Don't ACCEPT CHRIST?" sort of posts, or the ridicuous daily reposting of Pascal's Wager and that sort of stuff.

By all means, recognize that you have a "great commission", but exercise it with dignity. Living your faith oughtn't make your god seem ridiculous. We all know what a poor ambassador looks like ... the treatening sort that we see at the UN on TV. Have some diginity for your God.

BTW ... I don't think this question was at all ridiculous or boistrous. In fact, it was a good one.

you are absolutely right. People who question God do not always do it from the best motives, ie seeking God, but someone should do their best to answer back. I think you have to expect rude treatment. Christ and the apostles made it very clear that the world is not going to love you and treat you well for speaking the truth. The trick is, speak the truth IN LOVE.

I'm glad that you posted this question; I agree with you in all aspects. I think that there are those that slam Christianity because they know we stand for truth and promote Jesus' forgiveness as the only way to Heaven, and they want no part in that. And yes, plant, plant, plant!! :) Blessings....

I don't want them to stop talking. What you say is true. The seed that is planted today may not germinate for a year, or ten years, or fifty. God's word speaks for itself- my job is not to talk for it, but to help others hear it. It has been said that that word, when sent out, never comes back void.

The planting of seeds goes both ways.

Even if they wanted to, they couldn't. That is really what makes us so special. Our morals, logic and emotions all strive to find infinite reference point for our finite self. This manifests itself many ways but always at the root of it is where did it all come from? God is there and He is not silent, the people who are looking will find Him, they may not choose to acknowledge it right away but the seed is there.

You are correct in that we should do our best to answer any and all questions honestly and to the best of our ability concerning the Bible and Jesus Christ our savior. We should answer in love and be willing to admit that we may need to research questions in areas that we may not be familiar with. It is acceptable to say that you don't know but are willing to check it out and get back to them.
