How do Christians account for..

-The accountability of God for all evil and misfortune in the world (If he is all-powerful, it should be in his ability to prevent a child from contracting cancer, for example)

-The co-existence of an omniscient God and free will.
(If God, as an all-knowing being, knows what we are going to do, that means that events were predestined, which means we can't be held accountable for our actions and can't be damned to hell for them)

-The diversity of ethnicities present on Earth, if we all came from the same 2 people just a few thousand years ago (not my estimate, many Christian creationist take this to be the age of the earth, derived from all of the generations and years mentioned in the bible)

-and where the hell does the story of Lucifer's rebellion/fall come from? I know Milton wrote a whole book on it, but is there any evidence of such a conflict in scripture?

this should spark some good debate...

- Just like you have to let a child make a mistake to learn a lesson ,mankind needs time to see that we need gods direction. He can and will fix everything when this lesson is realized at armegeddon.

- God chooses to know what he wants about our future. we are given free will because he wants us to serve him out of love and our own desire to not because we were programmed that way.

-Any person can carry DNA from another ethnic group in their genes from generations before them.... whose to say that Adam and Eve didn't have characteristics from all the ethnic groups in their DNA.

-When he questioned the command God had given not to eat the fruit he was questioning Gods authority.

"this should spark some good debate" ??? And you asked for no hostility.......

Point 1. God is not accountable for evil and misfortune. But here's why it's present; sin nature, and man's own doing. See, if the world were perfect and there was no sin, why should there be a need for prayers and a faith in God? Why should He have died and rose again for us? Why should we be dependant on Him? Because there is evil in the world, we need to make the choice to either follow after the world, or follow God and accept Him as Savior.

Point 2. I'm glad that you realize that God is omniscient. However, just because He knows what we are going to do, does not mean that He is going to stop us. God gives us the freedoms to choose and a free will to do as we please. He does not restrain you from going your own way. Therefore, whatever decisions you make (whether they be right or wrong) comes with it's own price.

Point 3. There are many different beliefs on this earth because there were those that did not want to follow God and His teachings, and thus created their own religions.

Point 4. Lucifer is mentioned in Isaiah 14 beginning in verse 13 going through verse 15. The Bible says that he claimed he would be like the most High and would raise his throne to that above God's. Jesus Christ said of him "But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit." There are other references as well.

I hope that this satisfies your curiosity. Blessings...

i'm a muslim, can i answer? cuz what christians believe and what muslims believe is quite similar.

-The accountability of God for all evil and misfortune in the world (If he is all-powerful, it should be in his ability to prevent a child from contracting cancer, for example)

That happens because people don't come to him, like if they asked him and prayed to him for help, he probably would help, or he is testing their limits, and their parents limits. it's a test.

-The co-existence of an omniscient God and free will.
(If God, as an all-knowing being, knows what we are going to do, that means that events were predestined, which means we can't be held accountable for our actions and can't be damned to hell for them)

we don't believe in predestination.

-The diversity of ethnicities present on Earth, if we all came from the same 2 people just a few thousand years ago (not my estimate, many Christian creationist take this to be the age of the earth, derived from all of the generations and years mentioned in the bible)

i dunno, but i believe that even though we came from the same two people, some of us moved to different parts of the earth and the different climates affected us. but i believe that God created adam and eve, so i guess i believe in evolution to an extent.

-and where the hell does the story of Lucifer's rebellion/fall come from? I know Milton wrote a whole book on it, but is there any evidence of such a conflict in scripture?

sorry, i don't k now about that. it's funny, i was asking my dad today(he's a former christian): who's lucifer?

1st Point (The worlds misfortune)
The world's misfortune is a direct result of the sin in the world. God created man sinless and perfect, as He is. Man chose to disobey God and thus sin was ushered into the world. Never to leave except by the blood of Jesus Christ. The wisdom of God is another. With our finite minds and limited knowledge we tend to see only the good or only the bad. With God, who is wisdom itself, what may appear to look bad or evil to us is and can be changed for the ultimate good of humanity. Death doesn't have to be a bad thing.

2nd Point (Omniscient and free will)
Yes, Almighty God does know the outcome of every circumstance on earth. However, WE don't. Therefore, our decisions are made unknowingly and truly from our own devices. The two can co-exist. We would still be held accountable for the decisions that we made because of this very reason.

3rd Point (Ethnicity's)
Throughout the ages since creation many changes have taken place. People's appearances are one of them. In other words, what happens if you make a copy of a copy? Then re-copy it several hundreds, thousands, millions, and billions of times. Your going to get a different product. The same holds true for the diverse ethnicity's around the world.

4th Point (Lucifer's rebellion)
The fall of Lucifer from heaven is documented in sacred scripture, the Bible. See Isaiah 14, Luke 10:18)

Good question. Well God is not accountable for all we do on this earth. We have a free will and when adam sinned in te garden the consiquenses of sin is death. TO say that God made one child have cancer and couldnt stop it is the same as him watering a sinners crops and a christians with the same rain. You are looking for an argument and not looking at God. Our sin (we are born into sin) causes us sickness and pain in this life. But accept Jesus and eternity will be glorious. God is all knowing IF HE CHOOSES TO BE. Jesus saved me and has chosen to forget my sin. Our life is like a chess board and we have several possible "moves" we can make in each situition. Whild God mayknow us enough to know what we may do we surely choose right from wrong. Our names are written in the Lambs book of life and blotted out when we die (Psa 68:28 109:13) If he knew we were going to go to hell why put us in there. The bible also says hell is enlarging....Isa 5:14 A God that knew all would make it big enough the first time. Gen chapter 11 is where God confused the tougues (language) and divided the races. Lucifers fall is in Isa 14:12-16 ans Ez 28 compare both together. You need to study all of Gods word and not pick and choose what you want. The trap of Satan is for you to take half of a verse and run with it to your destruction. I hope this helps you and you are truely seeking God not just wanting to argue. God will never be proven wrong.....MAN ALWAYS WILL.

1."If God is a God of love, why hasn’t He dealt with evil?"

In Dr. Robert Morey’s book The New Atheism and the Erosion of Freedom, he talks with an atheist about this issue. The atheist assumes that everything is relative, and there are no absolutes (he is absolutely sure of that). Morey replies that the first thing an atheist must do is prove the existence of evil. By what process can an atheist identify evil? He must have a universal absolute to do so. Without an absolute reference point for "good" (which only God can provide), no one can identify what is good or evil. Thus without the existence of God, there is no "evil" or "good" in an absolute sense. Everything is relative. The problem of evil does not negate the existence of God. It actually requires it.

Many assume that because evil still exists today, God has not dealt with it. How can atheists assume that God has not already solved the problem of evil in such a way that neither His goodness nor omnipotence is limited? On what grounds do they limit what God can and cannot do to solve the problem? God has already solved the problem of evil. And He did it in a way in which He did not contradict His nature or the nature of man. We assume God will solve the problem of evil in one single act. But why can’t He deal with evil in a progressive way? Can’t He deal with it throughout time as we know it, and then bring it to the climax on the Day of Judgment?

God sent His Son to die on the cross in order to solve the problem of evil. Christ atoned for evil and secured the eventual removal of all evil from the earth. One day evil will be quarantined in one spot called "hell." Then there will be a perfect world devoid of all evil. If God declared that all evil would, at this moment, cease to exist, you and I and all of humanity would go up in a puff of smoke. Divine judgment demands that sin be punished.

By Ron Meade

2.Lucifer: Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

3.Free Will: The Bible tells us that the Genesis creation was "good." There was no sin and therefore no suffering or death. Why then did God give Adam and Eve the ability to sin, knowing full well that they would sin and bring death and pain to the human race? Some believe that if Adam had been created without the ability to chose, then he would have been a "robot." A father cannot make his children love him. They choose to love him because they have a free will. Others point out that humanity would never have seen the depth of the love of God, as displayed in the cross, unless Adam had sinned, and that fact could be one reason why God allowed sin to enter the world.

first off, you should look at your statements--christians dont have to account for the accountability of god, god gave man free will. man is responsible for the evil in the world. why would god give man free choice and then take it away? that would defeat the purpose. god could prevent a baby from getting cancer, but disease is the result of sin, mans sin. god gave eve and adam a choice and the choice they made is the reason for all of the side effects of sin.

the co-existence of an omniscient god--- and free will. God is all knowing yes, but he doesnt control what we do. you are confusing the two. we make our own decisions, he just knows what they will be, he doesnt make us do them.

the diversity of ethnicities, I believe, is from the story of babel. when god confused the languages, he dispersed the people all over the face of the earth. the climates changed the races, breeding and a host of other factors. that should be obvious, a person in africa, in a hot dry climate, is going to have characteristics of the environment, dry curly hair, dark skin, etc, europeans, not so dry climate, cold, no burning of the skin. have you ever been to london, versus somewhere in africa? I have, and there is a big difference.

and the fall of satan--yes there is in scripture a passage that speaks of satan being thrown from heaven, it was like stars falling from the sky-- Revelation 12:7-13 -- Luke 10:17-24
Isaiah 14:12-17
Ezekiel 28:11-19 --check these out--they should help you. but dont try to trip believers up in your question, read for yourself. study to show thyself approved. -- and dont mask it with, "please no hostility" the whole reason for your line of questioning was to make your self seem superior when someone put out a weird answer that you could mentally wrangle and laugh at-- good luck with that. Let the debate begin!

Q1. It is most definitely in God's power to prevent all evil had that been God's intention we would all be perfect. God did create the world as it is that we have the free will to choose God or follow a lie. All death and disease do come form evil and are a part of our free will decisions and it is God's plan to save us from ourselves the proof is in Jesus Christ who did come to overcome sin and death our creation was not over with our birth but is an on going process in which those who so choose will be perfected and live in a place without sin or death.
Q2. God being all knowing in no way predestines your individual decision to choose him or not is still your decision.
Q3. Nowhere it the Bible does it state the age of mankind and God is not under the laws of science all races could come forth in one day if it is the will of God.
Q4. Rev. 12:9 among other places.

1. God is not the cause of evil. He gave angels and men a "free choice". some chose to rebel bringing evil into existence. Examples like causing cancer are merely the emergent effect of the sin caused in the world.

2. If you have free will you are responsible for your actions. God may know what you are going to do, but because he is a just God, must hold you accountable for your actions.

3. To me Genisis, is more myth than literal fact. I don't mean its not true, but the archtypes are what is important in this story.

4. Check out Isiah and Ezekiel, and Jesus words for the fall of Lucifer. You might like what you see.

No conflicts in scripture.

Not to be rude but if you are looking for attention you should not use God as your bait. I belive everything happens for a reason. Blessed are those who go to heaven early. For heaven is free of sickness and full of a peace that I belive is beyong our understanding. This world is hard. It is full of hate and everyday can be a struggle just to get by. The reason I personally believe is because God designed me and when I follow his instructions it just seems to feel right, and everything seems to work. If you do not believe challenge his word. I have and every time I did he proved his word to be true. I gave a certain amount and just like he promised he gave me it back three times (or more) more. He is really and wheather you chose to believe it at the end of our days we will be judged. God bless you and I hope you can open your heart to the truth. No one has all of the answers (except God).
