Years ago I wrongly understood this as an unhealthy fear, such as one would fear a judgmental and cruel parent. But as I learn and grow, I have begun to understand, this fear is seperation from the Lord, because without God's love and protection, we are truly lambs amidst wolves, and without direction.

I can do nothing without God, and I've learned that those times when I functioned with power, wisdom, and confidence, it did not come from me, but from God. I'd much rather walk through an army of hateful killers, than reject the Lord.

Sadly, some of us are stubborn and must learn this the hard way. I'm sure I still have much to learn, and I still may not fully have the correct understanding. The Lord will let me know. How do you define fear of God? Do you feel the same, or have a different understanding?

Prior to BCE 390, both religious and secular laws had targeted only
one particular form of homosexuality: when a man or youth who
otherwise exhibited a virile attraction toward women nonetheless
agreed to or was forced to play a female role in intercourse with
other men.

This is to the Christians who down atheists for not believing & preach with their Bible quotes. Don't you realize that no matter what you say or do, atheists will not change their views. I'm a Christian but to each is own. No atheist could convince me that there's no God, & you'll never convince them that there is one.I wouldn't disrespect them by trying. Bible quotes mean nothing to me so do you really think they'll make a difference to atheists? Can't you live like good Christians & leave them alone?

I just found out that someone very close to me is very intolerant of other religions, even other denominations of his own religion. How do you deal with this? I'm all about tolerance, so this is strange for me.

If I am drunk, how are you? And how did evolution give us such a great thing like liquor? Only a benevolent god could give us this miracle substance!

;p

Yes, I like the Atheist population here. They make me happy, even tohugh I'm a Pagan.

From the questions that some people are asking, I am beginning if we should convince Yahoo to open up a few more forums ...

I think they should simply have a category under "religion and spirituality" called

Religion and Spirituality > Bash > Christianity
Religion and Spirituality > Bash > Islam
Religion and Spirituality > Bash > Israel and its Jews
Religion and Spirituality > Bash > Atheism and Agnostics

While it is healthy to inquire about what we don't know, I am really beginning to wonder where we draw the line between appropriate and inappropriate presentations of differing points of view.

Am I totally off base here?

People are so hypocritical nowadays... People claim that I bash Christians on a daily basis, yet, they are the ones bashing Atheists for their beliefs..... If people say that they don't believe in God, then why shove it in their face?... leave them alone, with their beliefs... They know what is right and wrong, so leave them alone!!... Anyone else agree?

Information comes into our minds via sensory perception. In other words, we know what we know because of sensory perception. Apparently, God is all knowing, so God wouldn't need sensory perception because, God already knows everything. This is pretty important and there really should be something written in the bible about this.....is there?

They're pretty much independant of one another in my mind. Go easy on me because I'm not an expert; but one- it seems to me expounds a belief in a loving God- the other is basically atheistic in outlook. One is concerned with the benefit of the whole in mind, while the other is primarily concerned with the development of the individual. Existentialism seems pretty bleak, hopeless, dreadful and lots of other negative adjectives. Christianity traditionally expounds all the other opposite good stuff (hope, faith joy).

Part 2 of the question is: Tell me about yourself- slappy...
:-)??????

The words of the Koran are unchangeable , and eternal. The direct words of God. But then God says in one surah that you can beat your wife if she is disobedient. If this is only applicable to 7th century Arabia, then what else in the Koran can be thrown out as being anachronistic. How do you pick and choose?
