I don't believe God did it to her....but he probably said it because when people have a real need they get closer to God.

Sounds crazy for anyone to say this to someone fighting this disease. I had cancer and it left without medical care and prayer is the only thing I can attribute it to. It was very miserable and I lost around 100 lbs from not eating for six months. If the disease was God's love I sure don't want his wrath. Your friend should know that there is a good chance that it will be eradicated through medical or spiritual care.
I think that there needs to be a questioning as to why a pastor would asy something like that and get back to me and this community as to the reasoning behind it if he in fact said that.

I'm afraid you were not given an accurate telling of what that pastor really said to your friend. No pastor worth his salt would ever say that.
First off, God does not seem to "give cancer" to anyone. The is, however, the way we humans often deal with it. We blame God for our sicknesses and our problems.
I think we need more information before we pass this one to the jury.

Just because he is a pastor is not a reason to believe every thing he says. I have no idea what your pastor is thinking or what he might have meant by that.
Perhaps God does have a reason for allowing her to have cancer, but we don't know this and neither does he.
Be there for your friend. Know that God is with you - you are Christian, I presume - and pray for your friend asking that He do whatever is best for His plan and that your request is that He heal her.
May God bless and keep you and your friend and enlighten your pastor.

Jesus came to heal the sick. God's will is that we are healed and made whole. Cancer is not a loving thing from God, sorry.
I don't know if you misinterpreted what your Pastor said or if he made a mistake in his wording but your friend does need to know that even though she has cancer, God's love, mercy and grace are still available. God is still in control if she has faith to believe, and that He can comfort her and give her peace, take away her fears and even heal her.
All things work together for good to those who love God and who are called according to His purpose.

My daughter was the most loving thing God has done to me. I hope her pastor never gets cancer. I had it when I was eight and luckily for me it was cured but some people go through hell. It's not fun. Surgery radiation hospital. All the kids at school not wanting to play with me in fear that I would give them cancer. Ugh.

If what the pastor said is in context, then I would steer clear of him in the future. God does allow us to have many trials in our life but He does not cause those trials. The only positive thing I could even begin to get out of this statement would be if he was saying that God is allowing her this illness to help strengthen her faith. Anything else would be horrible, heartless and a downright lie.

Either someone has misunderstood what the pastor said, or the pastor is an idiot. Worse than an idiot, the pastor is dangerous and not representing God and Christ correctly. I would tell someone in authority and let them investigate the pastor. If this is true the pastor should be removed from duty.

No offense but that pastor must be crazy. God is very loving. If he wasn't why would he have created all the wonderful things in our lives? Some religions say that the Devil is responsible for all the bad in the world. I believe that. This can be proved by looking up bible scriptures. What the pastor said cannot.

Shame on that pastor. God DID NOT give your friend cancer. I can't imagine what he means. No wonder people have a distorted view of God! Of course God loves her,and sick people too.....He loves everyone.
