I would try to have a sincere talk about the problem with your friend. Ask him to respect your beliefs. If he's a real friend, he will. If he refuses, then I'd let him go. Friends encourage and support each other, they don't put each other down. (Or their friends' beliefs.)

If you don't like people swearing and he isn't willing to at least try to watch his mouth while talking to you then he's not a real friend. It doesn't really matter why you don't like swearing, as a friend he should respect your wishes on something so simple; it's not like you asked him to quit eating meat around you. Swearing too much makes a person look stupid anyway. If you want to try to save the friendship give him a call and tell him that you enjoy his company but just wish he could respect you as much as you respect him (I'm assuming you respect him since you bothered to ask about this)...if he still can't try to respect your wishes then the friendship may not work out.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Every time I talk on the phone with my unsaved friends they always curse. When I tell them to stop they just do it anyways. If they don't respect you in your beliefs then you should stop being friends with them. If they really loved you and cared about you they wouldn't treat you like that.

Tell him to piss off and tell him that you shouldn't be saying that if you are my true friend. I think he isn't being a good friend if he is telling you that your convictions are stupid.
If your his friend again tell him not to swear around a lady like you

P.S. Hun, tell him for me that I think his convictions are stupid even if I don't know him. Key, key

How does "being a good friend" & calling you "stupid" add up?
We must at least be able to agree to disagree.
Why is he putting you down instead of building you up?
Criticism is good, but let it be constructive, not destructive.
The only one you should not stop talking to is God, He is always there!

May you be able to see the blessings He is giving you

Soli Deo Gloria

Do you only want to talk to people that tell you what you want to hear? Isn't that just a bit like trying to force others to be the way YOU want?

A true friend will tell you the truth. It may be an unpleasent truth or one that causes you to question or doubt your ideas but how do you think you will grow without it?

Doubt.

Darn, I hate it when people pick on my spelling.
No if people are running you down Give them a blast of Hell for it. If they don't smarten up then just dump them.
If you are not going to have anything to do with them you might as well give them a piece of your mind, you have nothing to lose! And they might smarten up.

There is nothing wrong with prejudice in choosing conversations or choosing friends. There is nothing wrong with having or experimenting with doubt... it strengthens you. To understand how something works, you must take it apart to put it together and understand its function.

Not at all. That must have been a tough thing to decide to do, but if he doesn't respect your belief, then you did the right thing in my opinion.

No. If you don't demand respect for yourself while respecting others, that would be stupid.
