A while ago, I told my brother to stop saying "****." "Who decided that this word was a curse word," he responded. I can't wait to read edifying responses! I mean, the Bible doesn't specifically say what words are or aren't curse words, right?

Leaving aside debates over catholicism and religion, I'd be very impressed if anyone knew of any young person who had become a nun recently in the United Kingdom?

Gen 1:13 And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.
Gen 1:14 Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;
Gen 1:15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so.
Gen 1:16 And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

I've learn so much about Buddhism but the one thing I have not learned about is whether Buddhists exorcize demons or if they even believe in this practice. Is the exorcism of demon predominantly a western practice?

I have yet to hear of occasions when people in Buddhist practicing communities becoming possessed like occurances that are reported from the Catholic or evangelical communities. Does the concept of demonic possession not exist among Buddhist communities?

Case in point: A friend of mine left an abusive husband. She doesn't have any close relatives. There are those in her church who are ready to help, with a place to stay(with them) and others don't even offer to help. Feed back please from Born Again Christians. No snide remarks from others, please.

Are the following two questions relevant to Religion and Spirituality, and tell me why your answer is correct.

The following, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvoyF7RSWwf4iOfcgLtt4XPsy6IX?qid=20070317095745AAfRZku deals with the chicken and the egg, sort of a disguised Evolution vs Creationism question, notice that some of the answers touched on Evolution and some touched on the Genesis creation story,

also, the following: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ar3uTxXUlQvPnec6niFJFdbd7BR.?qid=20070317100224AANntO9 deals with again, the idea of modern scientific belief and religious dogma, please notice that some of the answers mentioned verses from the Holy Bible, book of Genesis.

Again, are these two questions I pasted above, are they relevant to Religion and Spirituality, and tell me why your answer is the correct one.

Could this be true? That if God is all power-full, he should be able to create a rock that is so heavy, he himself cannot lift? If he cannot create such a rock, does this mean he is not all-powerful for he should have the ability to do so? If he could create such a rock, then would that mean he is not all-powerful? If either case is true, then God is not what many claim him to be; an all-powerful being. Has anyone an argument that can counter this concept?

I'm sorry, but I asked before for a logical explanation about how God sending his son down to get nailed to a tree was supposed to save us, and all I got was a lot of stuff about how in the old testament people sacrificed lambs to God and that Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice.

There was also a lot of twaddle about Adam and original sin.

There is so much evidence of the evolution of man that the idea of Adam is totally discredited.

Can someone try to give me a better and more logical explanation for how the crucifixion saves us than this silly stuff about sacrificing sheep.

I am an atheist, myself, but not one that believes in bashing religion. I think too much time is spent on mud-slinging, rather than on listening to each other. Preferably without trying to convert me to your religion, or denouncing my lack of one, could you tell me about your faith, whatever it may be, and what drives you?

Might or might not be interesting tidbit.
The ark of the covenant contained 3 items. Hebrews 9:4-5
1. Pot of manna
2. 10 commandments
3. Aaron's rod

Why is it that I see Christ?
Christ is the bread of life typified by the pot of manna -
John 6:48-50 I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.

Christ is the Law typified by the 10 commandments:
John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
John 1:14 - The word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Christ is the Judge typified by the rod of judgment -
2 Timothy 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

Christ is the eternal God head 3 in 1 just as the ark contained 3 components in one box.

So often in this forum I, as an atheist, am told I bash religion, I'm immoral and low and a host of other rather unflattering things. In truth, I make every effort to be respectful to others, regardless of religion, and I'm quite particular about my morality. You don't have to agree with my beliefs, just respect that I don't have to agree with yours, either.
