It really seems like people go out of their way to have something fantastic in their lives... I mean, they almost appear desperate to latch on to anything that's outside the envelope of reality. They want ghosts or angels or demons or the Lost City of Atlantis - the list is nearly endless - UFOs, miracles, wood nymphs.... You name it and you'll certainly find a freak or two, (or even a thriving religious group), who wants to believe it.

WHY....???

Why do religious people make atheism sound like the worst thing in the world? I know that theists believe that nonbelievers will go to Hell, but I find it strange that atheists are targeted for conversion...

My train of thought is this: Would God be madder at someone who doesn't believe in Him but also believes in no one else, or at someone who has "abandoned" Him in favour of another deity?

Personally, I'd think he'd be more sympathetic to the atheist. At least the atheist isn't pledging loyalty to another god; he/she just feels that there isn't enough evidence. It seems that choosing to believe in a different God would probably be worse, since it's kind of like saying "you're not good enough" to the "true" God, thus leading to a worse punishment than the atheist.

Note: I am not trying to target Christians in particular; the only reason that I mentioned them particularly is because I have been in contact with them more than members of other monotheistic religion.

Here is my question are you actually happy? the fact that a non-believer can go and explore the world without having to be in church on sunday sounds far more exciting fair enough you can have your beliefs but when your on your death-bed knowing that all you've done is follow ideals wouldnt you feel you've wasted your one life! *if your dead fair enough if thier isnt a god you wont know but isnt it better to forget raligion seeing as your god forgives and if you dont follow ideals you'll still be accepted into 'heaven'

I am rethinking some of the views I have had and I am praying that God makes me more compassionate, I used to be very predudice about single mothers and had my misgivings but God has been showing me all Gods children are in need of love and mercy. My sister has said you don't know the whole story about what they have gone through. What has made you a more compassionate person to people who have had issues with? I am asking this question so I can be a betyter witness and a light for the Lord. Thank you and God bless you.

It was suggested to me that all the key religions, i.e Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, put men above women (women should be submissive to their husbands, men can marry many wives etc)

If so, why would God make anybody superior to anybody? Isnt HE supposed to teach us all about humility? What kind of heaven is it for women if we are subordinate to someone?

Is it ungodly to want equality for all people??

Someone recently asked a question about the Da Vinci Code, and one person's response was a link:
http://www.debunkingdavinci.com/...

While reading that site, I came across this statement:

"The Book is filled with historical and factual errors. Here are just a few to make the point. If this book is wrong on such minor points why would anybody trust it for eternal issues?"

So I ask, after you look at this link:
http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/by_name.html

... is there a strong comparision between the Bible and the Da Vinci Code?

Seriously. You don't offer anything to people besides some vague promise of what'll happen after you die. Coincidently being the state where you can't come back and ask for a refund. So, is religion the best money scam in history?

What was your previous religion? (if you had one)
How did you come across wicca and what made you stay?

I was raised without religion but at 13 became christian, i even went to bible camp and joined a youth group. But when I started asking questions I was eventually shunned, even though there was intelligence behind said questions lol.
I found wicca by accident and found that those questions answered so now I've been wiccan for 7 yrs. Thats my story : )

like jebus on a cross is an idol, statues of the virgin magdalen and the whore mary are idols.
Doesn`t that costitute a death sentance in the eyes of god?
And if anyone argues that the old testament and modern values are different doesn`t that make god fickle? and prone to mood and whim according to interpritation?

Why wasn't Jesus named Immanuel?

21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."
