I like the King James 1611, the Today's English Version, the New World Translation, and the Greer Interlinear.
What is it you like most about your favorite translation?

I have been observing this raging war between evolution/creation, yet, i sometimes think that real appreciation for life, and freedom of thought is lost by some of both sides, I just would encourage both sides of this vociferous war, to step back, look at life and appreciate it for what it is. Why should I be offended, or offend, if you do not agree with my understanding of life?
Is not the fact that you believe enough?
Can we try to see, that, just because we do not agree on this point, it should not be a personal affront to any of us?

It seems, that, in my observation, we as humans have this flaw, where we take anyone else's views that differ from ours, as a personal attack on our character.
A belief system does not define who we are, we define what it is.
Does this make any sense?

Please, no attempts to prove either creation or evolution, I am just wondering, if there is a way we can eventually get to a place of mutual respect,
Does anyone else here want to try?

hint: something that is not possible with god, since he is above it.
hint: You might not even realize you want it but if you love someone you will work for it.

Think about what would make a relationship GREAT. Assume you have love, already. Love is not the answer.

If God knows everything, did he provide the Bible to let us know what he wanted us to know? If so, then why did he leave out the bit about penicillin? Polio vaccine? Airplanes? How to do a coronary bypass? Computers?

Religion is most broadly defined as a "fixation" on a person, place, thing, or idea. Dictionary example: "His work was his religion."

How is spirituality different?

Shouldn't people love their God rather than fear Him/Her/It?

"Fear" may be a misnomer, as I have heard it was originally intended to mean people should obey and respect God, not literally fear Him/Her/It. But can't you obey and respect out of love rather than fear? And wouldn't respect from love be more genuine than respect from fear?

[Forgive the pronouns, please, I don't know which is best as they all apply to things here and you really can't describe a deity with our own limitations... "it" makes the most sense, but may be considered disrespectful... oi.]

why can't we actually rest in peace when we die. Why do we have to go to either heaven or hell. Maybe you don't want to live forever. I mean even his life has been long enough as it is. Why can't you just lay to rest. Dead, over. Nada. Have nature do it's bidding. Maggets eat you up, but your dead so you won't care. You're body may be decomposing, but you'll be gone, and you don't need to continue to exsist. Why can't we just be gone from the world.

Obviously, scientists don't like the theory because it is bad science, illogical, and has no relationship at all to the scientific process.

But, it seems to me that it has about the same relationship to religion as it does to science. Intelligent design takes a matter of faith and trys to pass it off in a bland, filtered, politically corect perversion of itself. Stripped of the elements that the faithful hold nearest and dearest. If I were religious, I would consider this a gross insult, if not an out and out attack on my faith.
