I know many people who began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and left behind drug abuse, gambling, alcoholism, theft, and lots of other things. The truth of the Bible and the blessing of God's holy spirit has a tremendous impact on lives. Ask any Jehovah's Witness if you can borrow his yearbook and read these accounts for yourself or talk with a Witness and ask what they had to overcome. You may be truly amazed at what they tell you.

Alot of things can inspire one to fix their lives...religion can be 1 of them. Whatever gives you a sense of purpose. I quit drugs without rehab just by adding more structure to my life and removing those things from my lifet hat may lead me to use drugs.

Yes, if that person truly believes in God, he/she believes in him/herself and the lord will help them heal. There is power in prayer!

Yes. But most of that is irrelevant. Support groups, religious or otherwise are useful; relying on a deity for help is not.

All it takes is will power, self esteem, and a sense of responsibility. That's about it.
