Mosiah I needed this quotation only a couple of days ago. I like to inhabit the Q&A service in the religion section under the society and cultural sub category.
Someone actually posted and said it was a false mormon doctrine that jesus suffered for our sins in the garden. however mell gibsons 12 min movie scenario of the whipping was enough to show me He might have suffered there too, and then on the cross. but I agree with mormon doctrine, and wouldve responded that the cross was actually a picnic compared to the other two tortures.

I am a Catholic, and I can't help but wonder. Atheists think that this is it. There is no more to life than what we see. After death there is nothing. So how do you explain things like values and morals? If there is no greater force setting the rules, then isn't anything right? Shouldn't you do anything you can to claw your way up there? If that's how it is then Stalin, Hitler, Saddam Hussein and people like them were right. I think that would be unbelievably depressing, and I just can't imagine what my life would be like without my faith. I'd be insane. My life isn't particularly hard, but It would be without the knowledge that there's Someone up there who loves me and is watching over me, ready to forgive my sins and welcome me home.

My mate Enzo reckons that what we in Western countries know as "The Devil" didnt exist until well after the death of Jesus Christ, and was a tool to keep early believers in line.

If this is indeed a fabrication as he claims, then what does that say for the other foundations of Christian faith?

Most people realize that there is only true God. Throughout history, this one ture God has appointed many good men to tell others about Him so that humans eveywhere may turn away from false gods and worship Him alone. Abraham, Moses and Jesus (peace to be upon them) all spoke about this one God and worshipped Him alone.

In the Gospel According to Matthews, 26:39 (King James Version) we are told that Jesus \\\'fell on his face and prayed\\\' to God. And in the Gospel According to John, 17:3, Jesus declares that the one he prayed to is the only true God. This very God speaks to us in these last days in His final Scripture which He will safeguard from corruption. God announces in His book good news to all those who believe in Him and do right. He says:“ Surely those who say: Our Lord is Allah and afterwards are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the Paradise which you are promised. We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter. There you will have (all) that your souls desire, and there you will have (all) for which you ask. A gift of welcome from the Forgiving, the Merciful” (Quran 47:2). “ Those who believe and do good works and believe in that which is revealed unto Muhammad - and it is the truth from you Lord - He rids them of their ill - deeds and improves their condition. That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood and because those who believe follow the truth from their Lord” (Quran 47:2).

Accept this invitation, therefore, and enjoy a life of peace and satisfaction on earth, then everlasting life in the paradise of God. The true Scripture promises all this to those who choose no other god except the One True God who was worshipped by Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them). The truth has now come to you from your Lord!

Wont you accept it?

I heard a story on the news about two very young girls that were shot last night in a drive by shooting. Both shot in the head and the moment they are still alive but in critical condition. The news hasn't said anything about the parents, but even though I don't personally know these people, I know they need prayer. Will you join me in praying for them? Thanks.

i think so. all it seems to do is promote arguing and hate. and seriously, has a comment about religion ever swayed someones views one way or another on here? i doubt it. christians arent converting anybody and athiests aren't convincing anybody so they might as well get rid of all the discord and get rid of the section.

I served four years in the United States Military. While I personally was never shot at, I did work with people who were put into combat situations at earlier points in their careers. These men I spoke to about their expiriences in combat and life have told me that they do not believe in God and did not while they were in combat.

So, does this prove that there are atheists in foxholes? And not everyone just ups and believes in God when the going gets tough?

I find many verses in the Quran that give men more rights and powers over women. One of those verses is [24:6]:

"And for those who launch a charge against their wives, and have (in support) no evidence but their own, their solitary evidence is acceptable if they bear witness four times (with an oath) by Allah that they are solemnly telling the Truth"

This means that a man can easily accuse his wife of adultery and therefore can divorce her with no rights for her, while a woman can not accuse her husband for adultery unless she has FOUR witnesses on him. If she fails to provide FOUR witnesses, the Quran orders that she should be LASHED for tainting his name.

Is there any reason for the difference between husband's right (to accuse his wife with no witnesses) and wife's right (she can not acuse her husband unless she has FOUR witnesses)?

To you, what is the differnce between religion and relationship? If you are a Lutheran, catholic, Baptist, ect. shouldn't we all have a personal relationship? Using our faith and stepping out to share Gods love no matter what our religious affiliation is? I don't think one religion is better than another and am tired of hearing this. If we are christians and believe in the same Father, Son and Holy spirit, we should work together as Gods children in our development of stronger relationships, in helping unbelievers to know what we mean by relationship.

THIS IS MY CASE

I'm a Christian and I know for sure believing in God and getting salvation through Jesus Christ is the ultimate purpose of human life. But what about the purpose of believing in God? It seems that I live my life just to be a good holy guy and get an air ticket to heaven. Nothing more. And this world seems to be a play with God and us being actors, materials being props and incidents being the script. I don't know why the bloody hell I'm here.

I found the following answers in the Bible but none of them can actually answer my question.

1. We live to glorify God God is omnipotent... he needs not to be glorified... even if he needs glory he can do it by himself, ie not through human

2. We live to become more like God A little bit illogical I think... God is perfect and no matter how hard we try we can't be like him/ God wouldn't let us make ourselves equal to him
