I served four years in the United States Military. While I personally was never shot at, I did work with people who were put into combat situations at earlier points in their careers. These men I spoke to about their expiriences in combat and life have told me that they do not believe in God and did not while they were in combat.

So, does this prove that there are atheists in foxholes? And not everyone just ups and believes in God when the going gets tough?

That "no atheists in foxholes" thing used to be a pleasant saying, but now it has become a desperate argument by the believers who aren't strong enough to accept the fact that atheists came to their atheism as a result of knowledge, understanding, and open-minded acceptance of reality.

At least some of us atheists would like to see what it's like in Hot Mama's foxhole.

I have known believers and non-believers in combat. And while the believers may pray before going off to fight, all soldiers place their faith in one place in the heat of battle - in their fellow soldier.
