Unless we can agree on mutual meaning of the word religion, it seems fruitless to reply using the word, therefore I am choosing the word faith.
Matthew 22:37-40
In short, Love God with all your might, is the first and most important principal and the second is like it, we are to love our neighbors (whether our "family" or not) with all our might.
Later 1 John 4:19-21
We love because we are loved... if we do not love our brother, we do not love God, (in fact the word liar is used to describe someone who claims to love God but despises his brother) we cannot have one without the other.
So whoever claims to love God, must love their fellow human being.

In reality there should be no need for God. You should not be seeking God out because you need something. Instead it should be through love. Through the love God had in creating you, shaping you and watching over you and all of creation.
Religion is man made - it is a collection of traditions designed to help you understand and get closer then God. Faith is divine - it is the knowledge of God. Not just belief, but true knowledge.
Religion today seems more about who is holier then who. It seems to be more of a competition then anything else. To see who can volunteer more, give more and look better. This isn't what religion should be - but it is what it is turning into to.

Christianity is primarily about our relationship with God. Our duty is to then tend to others. We are commanded to not forget about the gathering together with other believers. We have problems between us when we follow what we want instead of what God wants. But we are all born with a God sized hole in our spirit that only God can fill. There is a need for God because we are created by God

Even if there were no problems between us and no competition...God would still exist and be needed.
The relationship between your sisters, brothers, neighbors, etc. and you come secondary to your relationship with God.

Last time I checked, the "rule" was to "Love God with all your heart and mind and sou. And the second was like that - to love your neighbor as yourself".
So, God first, others second when building the relationships.

God maintains the justification of those conflicts - which are brought on by man. If God wasn't around, man would run rampant in satisfying his own pleasures. That was a really silly question.

Religion is both a relationship with God and with others. Jesus taught that we are to love God with our whole heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Without God there would be no us.

Your relationship with your family is most important. Your family probably needs you. If God is a god he doesn't NEED anything.

Religion has nothing to do with GOD. We must have a relationship with Christ and love the brethren as ourself.
